Genis-Vell: Captain Marvel #1 - Peter David! - Oh yeah! I’m on board for this. Really liked this first issue.  I wasn’t too sure at the beginning but by the end I was sold.

Strange #4 - this continues to be a fun book.  I really like Clea and her part as hero of this story.  Her undying loyalty to bring Stephen back makes this that much more believable.

The Variants #2 - Getting weirder and weirder but I like it.  I’ve generally always enjoyed Gail Simone’s stories and this one is no different. An interesting chapter in the life of Jessica Jones.

New Fantastic Four #3 - Man, this is really not enjoyable.  I want to see how it ends but it may not be worth it.  I think I’m bailing out.  Sorry PAD. You’ve lost me on this one.

Legion of X #4 - I gave it the four issue try and it’s just not for me.  It’s not bad and I can see how some will love this.  It has some interesting moments and big ideas.  But I just can’t get into it.  I’ll wait to hear from others how this wrapped up.

Immortal X-Men #5 - This I loved. I really like the focus on each member of the Council.  This issue delves into Exodus, a character I know least about. Enjoyed it.

Flashpoint Beyond #0 - Great intro to this series and I’m totally sucked in from the second I saw “5g Averted” on the chalkboard!  Oh yeah! Another great Geoff Johns story ahead!

Flashpoint Beyond #1 - Good first issue. Fun seeing the world of Flashpoint again and the mystery Batman is trying to solve is having some good turns.  Thumbs still up.

Flashpoint Beyond #2 - Right there on the cover, one of my favorite characters, the Psycho Pirate. And the twist does not disappoint.  I’m liking this better than the original Flashpoint.

Flashpoint Beyond #3 - Hmmm. So while I don’t believe this tie’s in with Dark Crisis it clearly takes place simultaneously.  They’ve passively mentioned it twice now.

So now I’m nervous that if I keep reading I’m going to get spoiled on Dark Crisis.

------------------------------------------------------

Apes & Babes Book One by Frank Cho - Great art book.  Collection of Frank Cho’s covers from Marvel superheroes books to Kazar & Shanna to Red Sonja to Liberty Meadows. And some nude paintings thrown in for good measure.

The Department of Truth #16 & 17 - I think Tynion is on some kind of acid trip when he writes this book.  But the Lee Harvey parts are my favorite and that’s what this arc is all about.  I enjoyed these two issues and I’m left wanting more.

The Closet Vol 1 (Collects issues 1-3) by James Tynion IV - oh man. Really good writing by Tynion but hits you in the gut.  Great job stirring up emotions.

Ice Cream Man Vol 5: Other Confections (Collects issues 17-20)
Issue #17 - A twisted take on Super-Man of the ‘50’s.  A bit sick but a bit fun too.
Issue #18 - Well that was sad! Experience dieing from the point of view of the one passing. Impactful story telling, that is for sure.
Issue #19 - I liked this story a lot more than I expected. A “ghost” story of sorts. With a bit of a different ending.
Issue #20 - A twisted spin on you classic kids bed time stories.  Quite unsettling.

Ha, sorry man, I actually read more than I thought I did, but I damn sure didn't know I hadn't replied to this thread yet and I find myself just in time to post before I turn around and do next week's list?  Shocked Wow. Yeah, time has been crazy for me this week.
Okay, not reading as much of what I had set out to read... but still moving on the BPRD front so I am very happy about about that... until I look at how many more omnis/trades/issues I have left
 Cheesy Cheesy
May have to put Batman vs. Robin series on hold until I catch up on other stuff. Will probably drop that in next weeks list
 Sad
(Hell, may drop a lot more... I have to get through this BPRD)

Oh, and Jeff, glad you came back to Ice-Cream Man (I have to do the same). Really enjoy those... when I am in THAT mood at least. I also fell off, around issue... hell, no idea... 24? Bottom line, when I do go back to them I am going to have to start in the earlier issues

Abe Sapien - I won't discuss each story, yet, but I can say that I am enjoying this every bit as much as the BPRD stuff. Maybe because Abe is so highly featured in those stories as well, but for whatever the reason, yeah, good stuff! Lots of spooky stuff like ghosts and witches and the like make for a fun nighttime read  Grin

Power-Man and Iron Fist - Though not as good as I remember the later stories to be, these two issues were fine. May have to go on the back burner for a few, right when I try to get into the older stuff, as there is just too much new stuff I have held off on that is now coming time to read.

X-Men Red - Okay, I can taste the flavor of this book and while I do enjoy what is going on in Immortal a little more, I also like the characters more in that book. But that is fine because I don't truly know that much about the ones in this title, save for Storm and Mags of course, so learning more about the rest could be fun. So far I'm in

Immortal X-Men - Really enjoy this book. And like my lack of knowledge with most characters in "Red", I hope this title shows me more of Sinister as I am highly interested in him, but maybe because I don't know him that well?  Grin So far, I dig him... and the book

Flashpoint Beyond #4-6 - This was amazing.  Great story and great setup for the future DC Universe.  Just like the days of old when Johns was more prominently involved in shapin the DC universe.

NOTE: I will say I think you should read Dark Crisis before Flashpoint Beyond. This story takes place after Dark Crisis.  Thankfully it did not spoil Dark Crisis but it does talk about it in relation to other Crisis books and attempts to tie everything together.  It has made me excited for the future of DC and I want to get caught up even faster now.

Immortal and Red - I don't like who the mutants are. I am really enjoying both of these titles, but I am not liking who these X-Men are now. It seems like only Kurt, who gets very little panel time currently, is the only X-Man that has stayed remotely true to who he was. Sure the "bad guys" are the same, but funny how each and every X-Man sounds the same, has the same ideals of most of what used to be the "bad guys". Why is that I wonder  Undecided
Still, even with all that, I do enjoy these two titles. They are not the X-Men, but I enjoy them.  Grin

GCPD - Okay, about a third of the way through this title I began to worry if I was soon to be reading a comic version of ST: Discovery  Roll Eyes luckily, that isn't what this is. I am not saying it will not end up being that but so far this is more about being a cop. Hope it stays that way. I also enjoy seeing Montoya as Commish, though I don't expect Gordon to be gone forever. Of course I said that about another old white guy (Nick Fury) before.
A pretty good first issue that has me for a couple more issues at least. (Not quite Gotham Central yet however)  Wink

EDIT - Stargirl - I had forgot I read this until just now. Loved seeing the Todd Nauck art (I am such a fan of his and he draws these young characters like nobody's business) and also love seeing Geoff Johns back at scripting duties, but... yeah... I just don't care too much about the DC younger characters any longer, especially her. Stargirl does, and always has, just bugged me. I hate to say that as I know the history of the character and what she means/represents, and I don't want to sound heartless, but I just don't care about her... at all.
I'm waiting for the JSA. If she is in that, great, if not, well. alls the better. Cry
