Strange Academy #9 - Unlike Children of the Atom - these are some new character's that I love getting to know!

I loved seeing Sym(?), is that how you spell that? ... No Perry, you spell that like this; T.H.A.T.  Cheesy Cheesy

 Roll Eyes
Okay, sorry for the dad joke,  Grin  but I think that is how you spell that character. I am not too familiar with him as again, I was not really into the X-Men during his heyday, but I remember seeing him on a lot of X covers back when my younger brother was getting the X books. Just brings back fond memories.
Also, was also fun to see that Man-Thing must have been throwing his 'root' around. I mean daddy Man-Thing? WOW!!!
 Cheesy Cheesy

Eternals #3 - Ah the plot thickens!  And we learn quite a bit about Thena.  I'm enjoying learning about these characters as well.  And in Gillen's hands they are thriving.  So Perry - do you think they used a random generator for all those names?

Had to have, yeah? I mean I spent a decent amount of time scanning through them ... I forgot it now but I know there was a "Pickle Primus" or something like that  Cheesy Cheesy ... but I grew tired due to sheer volume of names and moved on. I was hoping to find some kind of homage or something like it in there, and there may be plenty of them, but I didn't catch anything ... yet
 Wink

EDIT - just realized I had the Eternals listed as E"X"ternals.  Fixed it in this post but not the others.  Not sure what happened there.

Your "X" memory of the 90's Externals I bet.  Cheesy Grin

All kidding aside, remember back when Marvel was looking through the dictionary for any cool sounding word with an X in the word so they could make another mutant team to sell (Kinda like they continue to do now)
 Grin
I mean I remember a team called X.S.
 Cheesy
(or something like that anyway. Ha)

Don't forget X-Static.

Oh yeah!!
 Cheesy

Dropping in with just a few more issues read, but have a comment on one so before I forget...  Cheesy

Immortal Hulk #32
Immortal Hulk #33
- And one of my favorite arcs comes to a close and, to quote Xemnu, I find I am "vewy, vewy hungwy" for more!

Thor #231 (1975) - So THIS thing Undecided I tell ya. I have no problem with dated dialog when it comes to this era, I get it, it was a different time. I also have no problem with comic-booky action sequences that are more for fun than based on physical science. And I surely understand and enjoy some of the older wacky things that these super-heroes end up doing at times (Like Superman having little Supermen fly from his fingertips  Cheesy) but for some reason, I had a problem with what Gerry Conway did in this issue.

In the previous issue of Thor (one I didn't read) it seems Thor and Hercules had a battle under the streets of New York and, apparently, to escape the huge cavern they were trapped in, Hercules pushed a perfectly cylindrical chunk of Earth and asphalt up flying into the atmosphere to create a hole for them. But "perfect" core sample aside, what happens next just hit me all kinds of wrong ... well, 'wronger' than Herc doing what he just did.

After outcries from passerbys about the hole they just created, Herc and Thor decide they need to "undo the damage we have done". First, Thor flies Herc to find the chunk lying across a line of barges, so Thor drops Herc atop said "chunk" which then sinks to the bottom of the bay. Then Herc swims down to get under Mr. Perfect Chunk, throws it into the sky where Thor hits it with his trusted hammer towards its original spot. Then, somehow, retrieves Herc from the bottom of the bay (off panel) just in time to fly back to the location of the hole to once again strike the chunk where it perfectly slides into it hole. AND THEN STAYS THERE?!?!?

- Here you can see said "perfect" chunk which landed in the bay as Hercules prepares to hurl it in the sky

- I forgot to get a pic of Thor hitting it after Herc threw it, but I think ... WATCH OUT!!!!  Cheesy

- At least he didn't leave his pal Herc at the bottom of the bay

- And right after Thor once again hits the freaking log of FUCKING DIRT (that has flown into the sky, been underwater, hit by Thor twice) ... lickity clickity, Bob's your uncle !!! And now cars can safelty drive over it? Right? Oh wait, was this entire thing a huge piece of asphalt? Is that why the water and godly impacts produced no damage? No wonder the taxes in New York are crazy. Those guys pave their roads with 400 feet of Bitumen !!!!

Oh good ole Gerry Conway at his ... best?
 Grin

Bishop's sister, Shard, was a member of the XSE. Is that what you were thinking about?

That must’ve been what he was thinking.  OR he’s completely confused and thinking of XS, the speedster in DC’s Legion of Super-Heroes.   Cheesy Grin

Cheesy Probably.   Grin Like I said I wasn't reading any X books then, merely looking over the shoulder of my younger brother.

Marvel Unlimited
Captain Marvel #27
Spider-Woman #10
Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon #3
Thor #13
X-Force #18
Marvel #8
Iron Man #7

——————————————————————-

Captain Marvel #27 - Man was that a girl story or what?  Don’t get me wrong, it was likely a very good girl story but I was definitely not the target reader.  Hopefully more explosions next issue.   Grin

Spider-Woman #10 - glad to have this wrapped up.  Good jumping off point…or jumping on point next issue.

Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon #3 - this seemed like a filler issue.  Nothing really happened nor mattered.

Thor #13 - Good issue once again.  Odin all armored up and Thor trying to get back.  Good drama and a battle royale next issue!

X-Force #18 - still one of the better X-titles.  I like the focus on Quentin.  Not so much in the Jean-Wolverine-Cyclops creepiness.

Marvel #8 - LOVED the art on the Silver Surfer story.  Even in all black and white the metallic feel of Surfers skin is drawn amazing.  Complete with reflections seen on him.  Really good.

Iron Man #7 - what the heck?  Just when everything’s coming to head you get a curve ball out of no where!  Fun title this still is.

Jupiter’s Legacy Vol 2 #1-5 -  Good ending.  Man I forgot how short this story really is.  This could have wrapped in easily three seasons on Netflix.  I did chuckle at the ad for Requiem at the end if issue 5.  “Coming 2019.”   Cheesy

The story and art are a little hard to follow, but I'll stick it out a couple more issues.

Well that depends.  Smiley

Rodney, when you say the "latest" series, are you talking about the current, most recent run, v7, the one up to issue #4 (I think) or do you mean the Tom Taylor run prior to this current incarnation, the one that, to my sadness, only lasted 11 darn issues ?

I honestly don't have an opinion on the current run as I haven't tried it yet, but yes, I did love the one prior, with the characters Osita and Thylacine.
 Smiley

Finished off a couple more last night, but nothing grand ...

MU

Iron Man #7 - Story is still fun, but man they are dragging it out. Excited about the last page ... Some of those guys look familiar, but I can't place a single one. Are they all new or should I know them? I swear a couple of them look ... again, familiar as hell, but ... just ... can't ... place 'em

Immortal Hulk #34
Immortal Hulk #35
Immortal Hulk #36
Immortal Hulk #37
- Retaining so much more of the story this time around. I tell ya, the things you miss when you are tired, too damn mentally slow or just full of drugs  Grin Or all three  Smiley

Doctor Strange #6 (1975) - And finally, it took 6 issues to get here (well 5 really as we had to sit through a reprint issue around issue #3 or #4  Angry) but he is here. Dormammu is here*

* Well, he shows up on the last page, so ... okay ... maybe he will be here next issue!!  Cheesy

Giant-Size Super Villain Team-up #1 (1975) - And this was ... okay. Fun seeing Big John Buscema drawing Namor (he was so good at it) but story was not all that great. They took reprints from Sub-Mariner #20 and ... crap ... another 60's comic that I have now forgotten, tied them together and concluded both of them with another short little tie-in. So not totally a reprint issue, but may have well been
