My backlog is starting to grow again, especially when I add all that X-Men stuff back in.  Going to get through these first and there's a good chance I'll get done early.  I'm in a reading kind of mood!

X-Men #8 - Still my favorite of the X-titles.  I really liked how this started with the New Mutants and ended with the Summer's boys & Jean.  And LOVED seeing Broo again!!  Looking forward to this arc's progression.

New Mutants #9 - The two teams from the two different arcs finally come back together.  I like their mission of finding new mutants.  Not sure if I'm going to like the mutant they're currently trying to help though.  She's very Grant Morrisey.

20XX #3 - Really good series by Jonathan Luna.  Love his art and the characters in all his series.  This one is no different.  Interesting plot - when someone gets powers they become a second class citizen and wind up in the underground just trying to live.  Opposite of what most series have.  Thumbs up as the plot thickens, the action continues, and betrayal is on the horizon.

Ascender #9 - Another good issue.  Am I actually starting to feel sorry for the bad girl in this story?

Bloodshot #6 - Love the art in this series.  And this was a bloody mess - literally for Bloodshot!  I like the new Psiot too.  Good wrap for this arc and really just the start of the war to come.

Rai #4 - This was a really good issue.  Loved seeing the return of a couple of past characters even if one did wind up in a fist fight with RAI!  Next issue promises a lot of battle action.

Five Years 6 - Good start to this arc. I’m enjoying the multiple storylines. A little more Rachel this issue and great to see Casey with Tambi!

Five Years 7 - Awesome issue!  Read a little too fast but that’s because there’s a lot of action with Katchoo in Russia. Loved the last page too.

Five Years 8 - it’s going to hard waiting for the next issue.  More Russia action. The big bad makes an appearance. And a lot of scary birds!

Five Years 8 ... And a lot of scary birds!

YES!! Lots of birds  Grin

(That was such a wicked neat part!)

Only read one last night -

Cable #1 - A book I said I wasn't going to get, and then I said I would, and then I said I wouldn't and then ... well, you know, but yeah, I ended up giving it a shot. Not bad, but it helps that I am a fan of Phil Noto's art (pencils and inks as well as coloring). If you are not, you may not enjoy the issue as much. I will also say the story was, as I said, not bad but I do think it is an early peak into that "X of Swords" event and, without spoilers, how they did it it was pretty darn cool.

She-Hulk Annual #1 - Picked this up just because it looked fun.  And it was.  Out of body experience for our green gal while taking on Bullseye.  I enjoyed it.

Spider-Man: Life Story #6 - And that's the end.  Fun seeing Peter and all those around him aging in real time.  Nice having Miles in the story and bringing him along in the new world as well.  I enjoyed the whole story, some issues more than others.

Thor #16 - Almost done with Jason Aaron's Thor.  One more, King Thor #1, and then his tale is all wrapped up.  This was a nice final issue for the series and sets up the new world for the Asgardians.

Actually kind of glad to hear this could tie-in to X of Swords.  I'm hoping I'll like it even though I want the real Cable back.

Hit Girl Season 2 Vol 5: In Hong Kong (Collects HIT-GIRL SEASON TWO #5-8) - Awesome collected edition!  Hit Girl in Hong Kong up against a Chinese gang leader that makes Jabba the Hut look good.  Loved this story.  Might be the best of the series.

Wolverine: The Long Night #1 - Ooooo.  I like this a lot!  I like how the narrative is from the investigators point of view.  A mystery to be solved and it looks like Logan is the main suspect.  Plus - who doesn't love Alaska!

Ah ha! They’ve rebranded it as a summer crossover “Kich Ass vs Hit Girl”!

I’m now subscribing to the podcast this was based on.

Tales to Astonish (1959) #13 - First appearance of Groot!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Immortal Hulk #23 - Man this title just keeps staying on top.  So many gamma characters at once and still only the Hulk seems to matter.  Big battle with between Fortean and his men against Hulk, Alpha Flight, Betty Banner, Doc Sampson, Rick Jones, and a reporter!  Lots of fun this one is.

Old Man Quill #9 - Nice end to the battle with the Imperial Guard.  Also really love that H.E.R.B.I.E. has become Quill's side kick.  Fun comic.  And now for the final arc....

The Web of Black Widow #1 - Nice first issue.  Natasha back in the game and already irritating Tony Stark.  Gotta love it.  And that poor IT guy.  I can't blame him - what IT guy wouldn't fall for a knockout like Natasha.

Fantastic Four (1961) #67 - First appearance of Adam Warlock! - Man. Reed was really a sexist pig in the '60's!! "It's too dangerous for you Sue. Just me, Johnny, and Ben can go.  I'm not asking you Sue, I'm ordering you."  But it was still fun to read a Stan Lee / Jack Kirby Fantastic Four with the origin of Adam Warlock!

Tales to Astonish (1959) #13 - First appearance of Groot! - Three stories in this comic starting with the first appearance of Groot.  But Groot is the monster from another planet in this story and he is trying to steal a town to take back to his planet.  He is eventually defeated when a nerdy scientist...
infests him with termites!
   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
The next story is the origin of the Abominable Snowman and has an interesting fate for the man searching for him.  The third story was interesting too.  It was about a man who was making a wooden woman for the bow of Napoleon's ship.  He meets a terrible fate of his own when he cheats a gypsy.  There's a fourth story but I skipped it.  I really only wanted to read the Groot story.   Cheesy

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: The Tempest #1 (of 6) - I keep putting this off because I know anything LoEG isn't going to be a short read.  But I'm glad I finally started it.  Of course, I"m immediately lost because I can't remember all that's happened or who everyone is.  So I had to stop after page one and go look at a quick history of LoEG in Wikipedia.  It didn't fill all the gaps but got me back to this issue which I really liked.  Mina, Ms Night, and Orlando (female for this issue) are back at it as well as the Seven Stars team (whom I don't remember) and a new M who is likely someone from the past as well.  In other words:  I'm just going to read this as is and enjoy it even if I don't remember everyone.  And then I'm going to TRY and re-read the entire collection in order.  The Tempest is supposed to be Moore and O'Neill's last comic series.
