Thanks Perry - I will add it to my library so it is there.  I've stalled out on my book "listening" as I catch up on some podcasts but if it is already there I'm more likely to get to it sooner.

I won't lie,I got a good little chill seeing them all lined up in a row like. But... Then I lose all the original art work, and the memories associated with that too... No,I wouldn't do that myself. But man, what a good racket juniper has for creating that element to sell!

RIGHT?? I hear they have more, but I keep forgetting to go look.  Grin

I agree though, I wouldn't change it, although I think my reason is only because I don't like the way they did the cover, at all.

But yeah, your shelf looks fine the way it is with that original art  Cool

Okay, it's time ...

Joe Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy -

I am currently on the second book, about 2/3rds done and guys ... oh, I think you are gonna love this stuff.

Again, it is like a mix of Song of Ice and ... Game of Thrones (to make Jimmy happy, he loves the fact it is known by that now instead of its true name  Wink Grin), Kings of the Wyld and ... what I imagine ... Tolkien's Silmarillion would be (I've only heard a little bit about what it is about. Never read it, so not 100% sure on that  Smiley)

No spoilers, but ... oh ... I better not even try and say anything.  Cheesy I'm just trying to get the juices before you guys read the first book, THE BLADE ITSELF. But no cheating!!! Just wait to read the book(s), no peeking. Don't spoil anything for yourselves. You will do no favors to Google one damn thing about this series. Okay?
 Grin

Jeff, you said you got it soon after we talked about it, you gonna get that jump on Jimmy? You know he is a very fast reader. Heck I think he got through Kings of the Wyld in three days or so.
 Shocked
Us "normal" readers can't keep the pacing of that speed reading beast  Grin

(Man, I should probably stop hyping this book. You guys may hate it)
 Cheesy Cheesy

Ya know what? It isn't a good book series at all!!!

I’m still working (slowly) on book two of the Wheel of Time series.  But I’ll line it up for when I’m done with that.

Hurry!

Oh, okay. Well then, let me know if you get it soon, like in the next 8 days or so and I will adjust my plan Wink

And is that the audio version? You may be better off trying to reserve the second book, Before They Are Hanged (what I am listening to now) if they have it and if you can keep it out for a few weeks. But up to you.
 Smiley

EDIT - and while you wait, Jimbo, if you want to listen to a free audio book or read one for that matter, Scribd is now offering a free 30 day trail, NO CREDIT CARD NEEDED. The options are limited in this free selection, but I did see the have Tolkien, Mark Lawrence and Gaiman (if you want to listen to any of their books you haven't yet gotten to).
You should be able to click THIS LINK and get to the Fantasy section, but let me know if you can't or it doesn't work and I will send you a different one to the main page.
Again, no credit card needed at all, your free trail just expires and you can't read further unless you then pay, so hey, sounds great.
(And yes, I looked for First Law but they don't have it  Undecided)

But hey, don't tie yourself down either, First Law is the goal here

First Law Update!

So I finished Before They are Hanged, book 2 of Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy and just started Book 3 "The Last Argument of Kings".

Book two was just as fun as the first but we learn more about the characters and they learn more about each other as well.. I do have a question for the series, as ... well, crap, I can't say much at this time, but yeah, there is something here that I find ... curious.  Cheesy

Waiting for my boys, my homey's to get started on this series is killing me!!!
 Grin

Gonna keep posting nonsense like this until they finally begin the damn series so I can talk about book one!

Only the first 2 chapters of The Blade itself;

I don't like the pronunciation of "Al-BEE-no", and 'gri-MACE-ing.'

Huh? What up with that?

But I"m with it!! Grin

Yeah, them damn English and the way they pronounce some of those English words ... I hear ya!  Grin
I don't know about you, but I use the URB BAY-zil (which has a hard A with a "Z" sound) when I cook and they use the HERb BAH-zil (with a soft sheep sound and a "Zed") when they cook
  Cheesy Cheesy

EDIT - I will admit I was well done with the first book before I realized he was saying the word "Shanka" for the flatheads and not just mispronouncing the "R" in what I thought was the word "Shanker"
 Cheesy Cheesy

Ok I guess I’ll abandon Wheel of Time and move on to this.

Don't abandon, just put aside for a bit.

IT's Shanka not Shanker?! LOL news to me lol!!

I had to look up characters, because I could not tell if the character was named  Doctor, Dokka, or what (it's Glokta).

THAT'S the only problems I truly have with audiobooks; if I cant see at one time the lettered spelling of the fantasy words, I get slowed down in listening to the book trying to 'interpret' what the word is in my brain. Especially when I listen to it at 1.7 speed or so.

(also, really digging the melancholy memory waxing of very early Logen stuff)

Like, Perry, Jeff, listening to Wheel of Time would probably have driven me insane trying to figure out the spellings or what words were being said!  Cheesy

Yeah, but some of us are not quite as anal about it so we don't care  Wink Grin

Messing with you of course, but other than noticing it wasn't Shanker, I don't care how you spell the stuff. I prefer the vocals, hearing the characters more than seeing their names. Plus the best thing about the audio book is you know how to pronounce the damn things.

But yeah, Glockta, Glokcta, Glokta, I don't care, I know who I am listening to Grin

And be careful looking up spelling man, A sure fire way to get spoilers in fantasy books. I learned the hard way. I will never again look up another character until I am caught up with the series in question
 Smiley
EDIT - or I have you to ask
Cheesy Grin Cheesy Cheesy Cool Cool

As for your 1.7 speed, I don't know how you can do that man.  Smiley I tried it, but I found I missed all all the nuances of speech and the verbal banter too much when I do it that way. I want to do it, I would love to knock out a book in almost half the time, but I just can't do it. I'm not knocking ya, I'm jealous
 Cry

And hey, do you mean you are through chapter 2 or are you up to, at chapter 2 and that is counting the prologue?
Just want to make sure if I say something I know where ya are so I don't put foot in mouth

I'm currently at 'Playing with Knives.' Yeah, I see the chapters are not numbered, so it's still Part 1.

I don't always stay at 1.7-1.5. Conversations I'll slow down for as well. Explaining what the woods or city looks like? Eh, 1.7 for me then. Cheesy
