Are they worthy a re-read?

CBR has an article on the Amalgam crossover (found HERE if you're interested) and it got me thinking about them. I read a couple ... well, that is to say I flipped through a couple back in the day, but I don't think, or at least I don't remember, actually reading any title (one-shot) all the way through and certainly never read them all. I was still "out of comics" during the time of their release (Negation didn't pull me back in full until 2002  Wink) so I am just wondering if, overall, are they worth the time? I am sure there are some duds, but I am curious to the "event" as a whole. Were there some good stuff too? I mean some of these pairings/mergings just seem rather awesome !! Of course you have the character that pretty much sums up the 90's in Dark Claw  Cheesy, but Dr. Strangefate? Oh yeah!! Though when I read a title like "Thorion and the Asgods", I see words that make me laugh.

Avatar mash-up is from Ross Pearsall... and of course those that own the original characters Smiley

Oh, I couldn't read those at all during the day, and I was HEAVILY into all things Marvel and DC then. Just figured it was a waste of time.
