If you get a chance - pick up this new series.  The first three issues are out now and I have read the first two.  Really, really like it.  It takes place in two different times:  after the fall of a dictator and before the rise of the dictator.

Nice mystery tying the two times together.

Here's the solicits for all five issue though numbers 4 & 5 haven't come out yet.

INVISIBLE REPUBLIC
Written by Gabriel Hardman and Corinna Bechko. Art and Cover by Gabriel Hardman.

Invisible Republic #1

Breaking Bad meets Blade Runner. Arthur McBride's planetary regime has fallen. His story is over. That is until reporter Croger Babb discovers the journal of Arthur's cousin, Maia. Inside is the violent, audacious hidden history of the legendary freedom fighter. Erased from the official record, Maia alone knows how dangerous her cousin really is... 28 pages, full color. MR Cover price $2.99.

Invisible Republic #2

The brutal rise of Arthur McBride. Arthur and Maia are on the run in a hostile city after their act of violence at Bright Rock Beach. Meanwhile, disgraced reporter Croger Babb is threatened by a conspiracy from the past as he investigates Maia's story. 28 pages, full color. MR Cover price $2.99.

Invisible Republic #3

Arthur McBride discovers Maia's secret...and her act of compassion could get them both killed. 28 pages, full color. Mature Readers Cover price $2.99.

Invisible Republic #4

Starving and homeless on the streets of Maidstone, Maia finds refuge with a charitable stranger. But will she be betrayed when he discovers her identity? After the chaos last issue, will reporter Croger Babb finally catch a break? Cover price $2.99.

Invisible Republic #5

Hows the art? I am thinking about dropping Southern Cross now as the art is just starting to bug me and after that Avenger comic from Dynamite, I am no longer subjecting myself to bad art.

EDIT - The art is not bad. Almost like Michael Lark. Ya know, he looks like a cross between Lark and Walking Deads Charlie Adlard.  Very much so in-fact.

Okay, I'll jump in. Southern Cross, you're on an even thinner ledge line now  Grin

EDIT 2 - On second thought, Chew is ending in another 5 issues or so, I will hold off on cutting SC and just add this anyway and it will take Chew's place on my pull before long.  Grin

EDIT 3 - Or I can cut the Wicked and the Divine. I think that is just a little too deep for me.

Lol!  You went through all stages before I even read your question.

I really think (meaning hope) you like it.  I don't want to have to accept the blame if you don't.   Cheesy

I read the first page last night  Cheesy Ha, was just a bad day all around and by the time I finished the new Constantine (which was amazingly awesome) I just fell right out. ZZZzzzzZZZZzzz. I liked what I saw so far, however.

Read the first two issues last night.

This is good stuff. Different, but good. This is like a futuristic/sci-fi political drama. Well, not "like" one, it is one  Cheesy Not a lot of action, but a very well written comic by a husband and wife team of writers (not sure if the wife is also a co-writer of the story or just the two page op-ed at the end of each issue).

I like the location of this story and the fact that the first part, well the early part, of this story takes place pretty soon after faster than light travel, allowing for some characters to possibly remember and'or discuss things prior to that. And how it could be used as a story element.

And speaking of the location this book is set ... I will say that while I currently live right near the beach and prior to that lived a good portion of my youth on a lake, and consequently have spent many a day and moon pulling fish and tin cans from the water, I would never fish in the waters of this moon!!
 Cheesy

Again, this is not an "action" book, it is more of a drama, but I don't need action comics. I need a well written story with at least serviceable art (Hear that Dynamite!!!). This book is well written and the art is also very good (if you like Michael Lark). This is on my pull. Thanks for pointing it out to me, Jeff  Smiley

You bet!  I will say issue 3 is my least favorite so far.  There's more action but the story doesn't move forward much.  The setup is there for a lot of progress in issue 4.  Still a good issue just not as good as 1 & 2.

Cheesy Of course. This was my favorite  Cheesy

Maybe a fast read, but kept me intrigued the entire time. And not we have three stories to follow  Smiley

And I just can't say this enough, I love the art here.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

That is awesome.  I'm glad you like it.  I think it was one of those gems that are found by accident.  I agree that the art is fantastic.  And the story is definitely intriguing.  I think I'm in for the long haul on this one.

So issue four gets us deeper into ... the girls story ... crap ... I forgot her name  Cheesy and I am happy with her situation. Sadly that will not last.
 Cheesy

We also, getting back to present time (well the books present time), get a tad more into the political history of the two moons that are ... are they orbiting another moon? ... I think so, right? That can't be Jupiter with a new name, right? I forgot. Hahaha

I am still really digging this series (again, the art hits for me also). I hope this is selling well enough to last a good while.

Great issue!  Your right about #4 Perry.  Can't believe next issue is the end of the first arc.  Can I really make the switch to TPB on this one?  Man that will be hard.

Darn, I see where issue #10 is coming out today and I fell off around issue ... Hell, I don't remember. Plus, not only do I not know what issue I left off at, I need to go back and re-read this series from the start if I do grab issue 10 as I can't remember much at all of this comic.
 Cheesy
I know I liked it and I know the gist of what was going on, but I sure don't remember the characters that much. Not sure how I stopped reading (maybe it had a hiatus?) but yeah, I need a refresher  Grin

You still getting this, Jeff? Are you up to date and current with your memory of what is going on here?
