So,

I've been wondering why DC books don't include letters pages or preview covers of next issues.

This is a purposeful disconnect with the audience. Don't have to answer pesky questions that might undermine the fly by night products, and no real commitment to the next month's content.

I think you might be reading too much into that. I don't think it's anything more than the fact that they get far more feedback online.
