I went to an advance screening of Cowboys & Aliens hosted by Fandango this week, and wasn't all that impressed.  It's a a barely passable distraction for a few hours. Seems like all the roles that Harrison Ford plays nowadays are grumpy old men, but that is just me.  It had a few moments, but a lot of the action wasn't all that exciting.  Predictable as hell.  Plus there was more in the way of Cowboys & INDIANS, rather than ALIENS.  When the focus finally shifts to the Aliens, I'd have to say that they are designed pretty cool looking.  Olivia Wild is smoking hot as always though, so i'll rate it an extra point.

Damn, so without the hotness of Wilde, which I agree on  Wink, it only ranks a 6?
Crap. I have heard that it is pretty formulaic and over all a bland action movie.

Avatar mash-up is from Ross Pearsall... and of course those that own the original characters Smiley

Totally by-the-numbers, and all I kept thinking was "Jon Favreau gave up Iron Man 3 for this?"  Cheesy

G - did we see the same movie?  I really liked it!

Yeah it's formulaic but it was a lot of fun.

Glad you liked it.  I wanted more as this was touted as one of the summer blockbusters to beat, instead I got exactly what I was expecting.  Just average to me, and I wanted to just pass along my reservations in case somebody was on the fence about spending $10+.

I also have to admit that I have not read the comic.  Is it the same or different?
