Title: Weekly Reader, January 13, 2021
Post by: Jimmy T on January 11, 2021, 04:42:11 PM
Jeff...I have off this morning due to covid in my kid's daycare, so I just read my 6 Marvel books  :D

And they are!!

Thor 8 : I HATED IN THIS ISSUE
that Tony threatens to take Mjolnir from Thor, then slams and hits Thor with the hammer? F*** you TONY STARK!!!
That bugged me so, so much. Loved the wisdom of the mechanic though. That was cool. Thanks Cates

Deadpool 7: Because I worked so hard in reading EVERYTHING in the proper title of Deadpool, I keep up with this solo title too. I don't think it's particularly good, at all, but it's interesting. So, unfortunately, I rate this book as "I read it."

Amazing Spider-man 49: What weird...dribble. 'We must watch Spider-man make his choice.' blah blah blah Spencer get on with it. You aren't as brilliant a writer as you think with your psychobabble. I don't know why, this issue and the situation with the Web of LIfe nonsense just bothered me. Makes Peter look like such a feeb.

X OF SWORDS

Wolverine 6 (Part 3) Um..okay, sure a trip to hell
X-force 13 (Part 4) Um..what, huh? What is this?
Marauders 13 (Part 5) No, I didn't actually read the words of this issue, because it's not worthwhile. Everyone will get their swords, feel bad about it, cut some ties, and then go to the fight. Got it. Only 17 more parts to go.
-Feeling not very impressed with this.

DC Universe

Batman 38-41 : Origin of Bruce Wayne with that creepy kid. Denny O Neil is a palindrome? That's awesome!! WW and Bats in the hellscape for '1 day' was okay. Stuff with Poison Ivy legitimately seems to be a huge threat!

Flash 52-59: Strength Force, Sage Force, Gemini. I'm just glad to see more of what makes Iris...her own character. I'm glad for that. Sandoval on art, from the days when I remember liking him on Green Lantern Corps (pre-Flashpoint) is cool; I like his style.

No detective. It's hard to keep up with that title!!

Damnation! It's not until January 21st that DC Universe becomes DC Infinite, and 6 months behind publishing. I must wait longer yet!!

Definitely a small week when I'm not reading Future State or King in Black.

Marauders #17
S.W.O.R.D. #2

Since I’m moving so slow,  I’m no going to add anything until I’m done with these.  I went ahead and took Jimmy Olsen off the list and will come back to it with more issues since apparently it’s better to read in bulk.

Okay, committed myself to reading last night and got a couple more knocked out. It has been a few days since I posted so, once again, I am not sure what I read when so listing all that here. Screw it.

Dark Knights: Metal
The Forge #1
The Casting #1
Metal #1
Metal #2
Metal #3
The Batman Who Laughs #1
Batman Lost #1
Hawkman Found #1
Metal #5 - I tried, I did, I just couldn't keep going. Just too many eye rolls for me. I will try Death Metal when it hits the new DCU (DCI?) and I am going to "read" Generations Shattered, but I have to put this down.
(And I hear that a good bit of the Future State books are very good. Seems I am going to have to add a few of them, at least, to my future read list)
 :o

Colonel Weird: Cosmogog #3 - And the loop continues!  :)
HaHa #1 - From the writer of Ice Cream Man comes ... another Ice Cream Man like title  :D
Serial #1 - Terry Moore is back! I may wait and read collected, seems a good idea, but can I wait?
The Cimmerian: Frost Giant's Daughter #2 - Whoa!! I don't remember THAT part in the original  :D

Iron Man #5 - Still enjoy, but starting to feel the streeeeeetch here. Should've been last issue in arc
Thor #11 - OH HELL YEAH! An ending that has me dying to get the next issue. Sweet!!!!
The Eternals #1 - A very, very, very, familiar opening salvo here. Thought I was reading Hickman's X-Men for a minute or two (complete with info pages), but still, even with that, I am very interested in this going forward!

And I think that is about it, folks. Two weeks worth of comics? Heck, if it wasn't for the Metal reading about 12 days ago, I would have read a mere 7 comics in the last two weeks! Pathetic!
*sigh*

Batman & the Outsiders #7 - Its been a little hard getting back into this since I took so. Much time off from it.  But I’m enjoying this for the most part once my brain remembered what was going on.

Hawkman #18 - Year of the Villain kickoff with an evil Hawkman.  I liked it.

The Terrifics #14 - wrap up of the multiverse storyline.  Thumbs up!

The Terrifics #15 - Start of a new arc and I’m intrigued.

Thor #7 - Two of my favorite “Thor” things: 1. BetaRay Bill; 2. Broxton, Ok.  And we got both in this issue!

Iron Man #1 - Love it.  Really like the new/old armor. Plus Hellcat! Another of my favorite characters.

Immortal Hulk #0 - interesting read with reprints of Brian Banner stories by Bill Mantlo and Peter David.  Wrapped inside a story by Al Ewing and tying into the current storyline on MU. Thumbs up as I wasn’t aware of the history.

Immortal Hulk #37 - This book is so awesome.  Really enjoying this stuff with the Leader.  Next issue should be a doozie!

The Amazing Spider-Man: The Sins of Norman Osborn #1 - Not sure why we needed a special issue for this as its just the continuation of the story arc in Amazing Spider-Man.  It was still good but, yeah, no need for a one shot.

Spider-Woman #4 - Just an ok issue.  Not sure what I think of this family stuff.  Seems a little too much.

Spider-Man Noir #4 - Very Indiana Jones - complete with Nazi’s!  I liked this issue.  Big buildup for what I assume is the big ending next issue,

Heck yeah ...

FINISHED IT!!!

Finally, got through Invincible!!!!

Invinicible 117-144 - 28 issues knocked out in about three nights ... and a couple daylight hours as well.  ;D An accomplishment for me like no other!!
 :D
The last issue, which
gave us a peek inside of Mark and his family's life for the next 100 years or so was ... I don't know ... to me it made Mark too much a dick (but hey, with the last name Grayson ... ;D)
and so I wasn't too much a fan of that, but for the most part I enjoyed the last set of issues.
I enjoyed a lot towards the end but one thing on the periphery I liked was
the new Battle Beast, with the same goal (sickness) as her father and I like the way the Sun was the finishing blow for Thragg.
Didn't overly enjoy the fact that Atom Eve was immortal ... I mean, not that she was I supppose as they set that up kinda early with her healing people that were close to death, but just her reaction after dying of old age ... "Oh, guess I'm immortal"  ::) I also think that Robot should have been punished more, somehow, but I guess a lonely life will have to do
Yeah, overall I enjoyed this title very much though, but I am pumped to be able to say I finished.  ;D
Looking forward to the Prime show now more than ever!

Now to get caught up on ... Saga? I think?
