Avengers of the Wasteland #2 & #3 - Not as epic as the other "Old Man" books but fun seeing where these characters are going since being introduced in the other mini's.

Falcon & Winter Soldier #1 - Not a bad first issue and interesting enough to see where the next issue takes us.

Force Works 2020 #1 - I enjoyed this if for no other reason than getting to see these four characters interact.  So far I like it.

So decided I was going to catch up on the few Boom titles that I started back when but was trying to wait on ... but dang it, they are going longer than I thought and Jeff keeps making me miss the "Someone Is ..." title so I decided to dive back into the ones I was interested in. Of course I started with one of the other Boom titles and not the one Jeff has been talking about and making me miss, but still, Jeff is the reason for this
 :P

Red Mother #1
Red Mother #2 - Reread
Red Mother #3
Red Mother #4
Red Mother #5 - A very slow, but interesting tale about a woman that struggles with intense "visions" after losing her eye to a mysterious force during a walk home with her now missing boyfriend. HA! Did I run-on jumble that up enough?
 :D

Dead Body Road: Bad Blood #1
Dead Body Road: Bad Blood #2
Dead Body Road: Bad Blood #3 - Was going to wait until this 6 issue mini was over, but I couldn't hold out. Pretty decent crime stuff

Batman #98
Batman #99 - This Joker War is ... I don't know ... okay I guess?
Injustice: Year Zero #6 - Holy Cow!! What Joker does here ... Tom Taylor doing it again!!

Iron Man #1 - Heard I should try it. Damn it, I liked it. A good bit. Great team-up also!!!!
Excalibur #12 - Heard I HAD to try it. damn it, I didn't. Oh well. I spread the joy  :D
X-Men #12 - Hickman throwing more stuff at us before answering the stuff already on the table? Yep, just like him. But with this ... ummm ...
look I know nothing of Externals and I was just getting my head around Omega Level Mutants but ... so ... now Apocalypse has had a wife for, like, ever and there are tons of more mutants and they
... oh lord, my head hurts.

Strange Academy #1 - Aaaaaand...I’m in.  I liked this a lot.  Ramos’ art is perfect for it too.  It reminds me of Jason Aaron’s X-school and has a lot of promise for a fun ride.

Hawkeye: Freefall #4 - Nice.  Another fun issue with Barton and crew.  This can’t end well for our hero.

Nebula #2 - Good issue.  Going to get weird when Nebula gets her memory back.

Immortal Hulk #32 - This has got to still be the creepiest comic series I’ve ever read.  And this issue is one of the creepiest.  Even the eyes of Banner look insane.

Star Wars Darth Vader #2 - Nice twist and I had a feeling that is who this cliff hanger character was!  This is a good arc for Lord Vader.

Excalibur #11 & 12 - I found myself not caring about this up until the end of issue 12.  Now I’m curious as to how this will play out.  If I remember right both Gambit and Cannonball are also Externals but it’s been awhile since the ‘90s and my memory could be faulty.

Title: Re: Weekly Reader, September 16, 2020

Lots of quoting to do  ;D, sooooo ...

X-Factor #2 & 3 - Did I mention that I hate the Mojoverse?  These issues did nothing to change that feeling.

Seconded!

Excalibur #11 & 12 - If I remember right both Gambit and Cannonball are also Externals

CRAP! I really need to look into this External stuff  >:(

Fantastic Four: Grim Noir #1 - Never cared for D’Spayre.  Still don’t.

Awww, that's a shame. I fell in love with D'Spayre, way back when I was young, from a Byrne drawn issue of ... not sure  :D I think it was an Avengers issue around the Wundagore Mountain stuff, perhaps, but it could have been just a Dr. Strange issue. Or, as I just mistyped, a "Sr." Strange issue
 :D
Trying to bring the age closer to mine?
 :D

Anyway, when I first saw D'Spayre he was on his horse, which looked like it was rotting away, and I thought he looked so cool.

OH! No wait, I think ... it could have been a Man-Thing guest star issue of Marvel Team Up? Maybe?

Crap, that is gonna bug me for a couple hours
 ;D
Either way, sorry you don't dig him. I understand why, I just like the look  :)

Amazing Spider-Man #41 - Great start to this arc. Boomerang and Spidey - the team up everyone demanded!

;D They do work well as a story element!

Dr Strange Surgeon Supreme #4 - Another good issue.  Liked that Doc called for help and this new partnership happened organically.

Love how ... that guy ... is working with him. I have never liked that dude, although I have a feeling if I were to go back and read the Avengers runs with him in them I would enjoy them a lot more now than I did back in the day they were being printed. Not sure why I feel that way ... maybe I just want to go back and read some of those issues drawn by Buscema?
 :D

Strange Academy #1 - Aaaaaand...I’m in.  I liked this a lot.

Sweet! Sadly it lost a lot of momentum being released right when it did, at the start of all this Covid crap, but I hope people come back as I think, especially with the new characters, we could have a very good run here!

Immortal Hulk #32 - This has got to still be the creepiest comic series I’ve ever read.

Just realized I have been away from this comic for far too long ... need to go back to a good starting point (the arc before Xemnu perhaps) and get caught up. Gonna do that today/tonight. Thanks man!
 :)

Oh, and just letting you guys know, the first two issue of that fantastic 12 issue mini of Superman's Pal: Jimmy Olsen are up at DCU. More good news is now that DC will soon be releasing titles after 6 months, the first nine issues should be up there soon!!
(Although I still think it is a better read going all the way through, so perhaps still wait about 4 more months to start)
 :D

The only thing I would have added to my list  for this week is a title I started called -

The Cimmerian: People of the Black Circle #1 - by Ablaze comics. This company is doing Conan right. Mostly. As are all their runs so far, this is a two issue story, but this time I am going to struggle getting through I fear. I am not a fan of the art style in tis arc. It is reminiscent of a Dragon Ball Z style, though not as pronounced as that. That kind of art has never been a thing for me on established properties. I love the style, on its own, but when it is covering characters that I know ... unless the style fits the form, it isn't for me. You can probably get an idea of the style I mean from the cover -

It's nice, but the sharp edges of the hair ... it's just not Conan for me. The first two mini's had some incredible European art style that I really enjoyed and heck, I am sure the next one after this (The Frost Giants Daughter) will also have a visual pleasing style for me, but this one, while not bad ... at all ... is just not doing it for me.
 :-\

But hey, now Jeff has me side tracked with Hulk, so ... yeah ... I will jump over to that instead
 ;D

New Mutants #12 - One shot story. I like Glob and Magik.  Story itself was bland.

Cable #3 & #4 - End of the Spaceknight arc. Or is it?  I still think these swords will play a part the upcoming crossover.

Hellions #3 & #4 - I’ve always thought Madeline Pryor should get more sympathy.  I mean she is Cable’s real Mom not Jean.  This story ended abruptly; probably to make room for the crossover.  I think this could have been more but unfortunately wasn’t.

I thought Conan was owned by marvel now?

They have the shared rights to him and the exclusive use of the name Conan on comic covers, thus the title "The Cimmerian".

He is called Conan inside, just not on the cover  :)

Edit -

Cable #3 & #4 - End of the Spaceknight arc. Or is it?  I still think these swords will play a part the upcoming crossover.

I thought so until reading Excalibur #12. I think it is totally different now. Though I could be wrong of course.
