Dead Man Logan 2 - This, on the other hand, is fun. It has the potential to go south so I'm proceeding with caution. Right now I'm liking it. Hopefully Sin won't get too crazy. Then it got interesting. And won me over by the end. Looking forward to reading what this setup even though I know it's all going to change when Hickman takes over. But that's ok. I still liked it in the end. Infinity Wars 6 - Really let down by this series. Glad it's over. >:( Infinity Wars: Fallen Guardian 1 - I guess I didn't know the origin of the character highlighted here. I enjoyed this just for getting to learn that. Title: Re: Weekly Reader, June 26, 2019 Post by: Perry on June 28, 2019, 12:34:31 PM Sleeper Book One (Collects POINT BLANK #1-5, SLEEPER #1-12) Vol 1 - Oh yeah. Yeah man, I remember really enjoying that. My first dippin' of the toes into Brubaker. ;D Royal City 6 - 10 - Love this story. I enjoyed the first couple I read, just another series I need to get back to >:( Avengers 11 - Yeah, I am just not feeling it with this comic. Thor doesn't even sound like Thor and this is Jason Aaron writing him? I've been on the fence for the entire run so I'm not sure why I keep trying to make myself enjoy it. I'm done. I didn't notice an issue with Aaron's Thor voice, other than the one aspect I hate So ya, I understand you dropping this, I have mostly although I did somewhat enjoy the last arc with the vampires and Blade, but again, that was David Marquez(?) ... I can't remember how to spell his name ;D ... but I am currently right there with ya, not reading Avengers as Mcguinnes is back (but yes, check out issue #13's standalone issue) Infinity Wars 6 - Really let down by this series. Glad it's over. Haha, yeppers! This thing went from being a pretty decent read, at the beginning of Infinity Countdown, to a total mess. Yuk!! As for me, starting decent enough, but I feel I should have read so much more. Still feeling a tad sick, so maybe that is my excuse? I know I felt tons worse after reading one of the issues below. Left me feeling queasy >:( Action Comics #1012 - Leviathan arc continues. Good stuff Batman #73 - Lots of panels, few words. Also, I ... no ... I'll ask in a bit ... Batman & the Outsiders #2 - Yeah, Jeff got me to try this again and okay, okay, I will try to keep up :D Superman- Year One (Black Label) #1 - GARBAGE!!! This is crap in the highest order. I honestly can only think of one book that has turned me away from a creator more than this issue. I have not read a worse written story since Neil Adam's Batman Odyssey. While that was just a crazy written book written by an artist that should never, ever write again, this was by an actual writer whose time I felt had possibly past him by, at least with his last few efforts, but this issue not only just proved that is indeed the case, it also makes me think I (and everyone else in the comics industry) was wrong about him in the first place. Yes, this is so bad that I am questioning if Frank Miller was ever a good writer? Yes, All-Star Batman was bad, and Master Race ... okay, I didn't read that one ... but I heard it wasn't good :D ... but this takes the cake. The Lana Lang stuff alone is ... Look, I know it is Black Label, all adult stuff and all, but I will almost bet the house that Jimmy would enjoy reading 30 issues in a row of Bendis Superman title than read this after issue one. Maybe I have that all wrong, but to me, it is that bad. But okay, I will try this issue again later, maybe, if I see it again I may pick it up and see if maybe, just maybe it was me being sick that made this such a bad comic for me, it is possible I guess (I am having trouble remembering a couple things from the issue). Who knows, maybe I will think it wasn't as bad as I am currently remembering, but I honestly don't see how I could come away thinking this was a good comic. Also, as far as Batman #73 - Also also ;D I mentioned the fact that Mcguinnes is killing my Avengers reading, well I haven't been able to enjoy Aaron's stuff in Thor either as DelMundo is just not a fit for Thor. Two titles that have two artist, that I do like, but are on two titles they should never be on. It is killing me. End rant. ;D Title: Re: Weekly Reader, June 26, 2019 Post by: Jeff on June 28, 2019, 01:39:55 PM (but yes, check out issue #13's standalone issue) Ok, Yes. This I can do. :) Batman & the Outsiders #2 - Yeah, Jeff got me to try this again and okay, okay, I will try to keep up :D How ironic since you convinced me to put this on hold until it comes out on DC Universe! :D Also also ;D I mentioned the fact that Mcguinnes is killing my Avengers reading, well I haven't been able to enjoy Aaron's stuff in Thor either as DelMundo is just not a fit for Thor. Two titles that have two artist, that I do like, but are on two titles they should never be on. It is killing me. Yes, yes. I feel this way too. Although I don't hate it as much on Thor as I do McGuinnes on Avengers, it does make one wonder why they keep picking it up. I sense another good Lemire series building. Black Science 40 - Getting close to series end. Good thing too. I don't think my brain can handle anymore twisty onion levels! Thief of Thieves 43 - And that's a wrap. Last issue of the series and ends with a bang. I enjoyed the series only wishing it would have come out more consistently. It was hard to remember where we were at with all the gaps between issues at the end. But if you've missed it don't fear. It should read great in collected editions. This art is killing this. If it wasn't for the greatness that is Thori the dog I'd be close to skipping this title. Title: Re: Weekly Reader, June 26, 2019 Post by: Perry on June 30, 2019, 11:04:43 PM Action Comics 1012 - Leviathan tie-in. Nothing major here; just a filler issue. Well, in all honesty, just so Jimmy'e head doesn't explode from laughter :D, it wasn't as much a filler issue as a small progression of the story ;D. I will say it has some weird ass art. Some of it look good, but those images of Lois, with virtually no room between her bottom lip and chin, looked strange. Made her look chubby as hell in the face. The Life and Death of Toyo Harada 3 - Major stuff here! The final battle starts here and is so good. Yes indeed!!!! Mech Major even ;D Bloodshot Rising Spirit 7 - This origin series is two or three issues too long. Glad the next issue is finally the last. Oh I tried this one, but I had to jump very early on. I actually thought it finished at #7 until I saw that issue #8 had hit. Title: Re: Weekly Reader, June 26, 2019 Post by: Jeff on July 01, 2019, 09:36:55 PM ComiXology Backlog Plan - Group 19

Title: Re: Weekly Reader, June 26, 2019 Post by: Perry on July 05, 2019, 02:29:33 PM Okay, I have been tardy on my internet usage the last couple of days, so I had some catching up to do. I did get some reading in this past week, or as I am posting here I guess I should say I did get some reading in THIS week
;D And before I list what else I did read this week, I do need to state that everyone should disregard my thoughts I posted earlier on Miller's Superman Year One. I was sick for a few days, and while I knew I was out of it, I didn't realize how out of it I was until about two days after talking to my eldest daughter. She had told me she had a lower lobe of her lung collapse and I didn't remember talking to her at all. Two days later, I was standing in the kitchen, something reminded me of my kids and then suddenly, POW, I remember my eldest talking to me about some health issue, I thought. I had to call her right away. I had totally, 100% forgot all about it. Crazy Given that fact, I think I can safely say that my mind may not have been in the best shape to read and judge anything. So Frank Miller, I apologize ... for now. :) Craziest thing about that ... I found out why I was so "out of it". I was taking MucinexDM (not a sponsor ;D) but I did not know that there is a drug interaction warning with Mucinex and both Neurotin and Morphine. Two drugs I take 3 times a day. I had a small case of Serotonin Syndrome. It was basically like being on acid for 4 days. Haha It was crazy!! Anyway ... back to the reason I am here ... Isola #8 - This is a good series, it is not a good comic to read bi-monthly. This is now officially collected only :'( Redneck #21 - Well then!!!! We see what ole Bartlett looks like ... and what they do to him ... Conan #6 - Aaron was made to write Conan! Fantastic Four #11 - Slott was not made for the FF. Each month I bet it is gonna be bad. I win again. :'( Marvel Knights 4 #7 Marvel Knights 4 #8 Marvel Knights 4 #9 - I just needed some Fantastic Four. I had to read a couple issues of something non-FF/Slott Guardians of the Galaxy #6 - And the team is set!! Venom #10 Venom #11 Venom #12 Venom #13 Venom #14 Venom #15 - Finally got caught up ... kinda losing me. It is, I don't know, not as fun as it once was. Hope it returns Star Wars: Age of Rebellion: Boba Fett Star Wars: Age of Rebellion: Grand Moff Tarkin Star Wars: Age of Rebellion: Princess Leia - all three stories hit for me. They are all pretty decent for what they are, just a one shot, fast story featuring the character on the cover :D In the Leia one we find how she got the bounty hunter Boushh's outfit. In Boba's we see him on a bounty hunt, with a cool little ending. And with Tarkin we get to see a little into his past and how he thinks. Decent reads. Maybe not worth cover price, but certainly worth an MU read if/when they hit ****************************** Action Comics #1012 Batman #73 Batman & the Outsiders #2 Superman- Year One (Black Label) #1 |
