Title: NFL Playoffs
Post by: Perry on January 10, 2016, 06:04:36 AM
Well after losing Ben and knowing that our porous D struggles to stop anyone when the pass, I just knew that my wish of a season being over was about to come true. So much for that. Now, we go even further back in the draft, losing site of grabbing one of the four top CB's that may come out for the 2016 draft. We need a 6 foot, shutdown corner badly, but the more we win, the further he gets away from us.

What a game ender. What the hell? I mean, seriously, holy sh!t.

No way you could write that up in a million years.

Burrich goes from greatest Bengal's hero to the worst kind of player in the league (that terrible head hunting hit on Brown. Just f'ing awful). How was Shazier's hit also not leading with the helmet?

That fumble by Hill. The fights. Also, how does a coach from the Steelers get out so far on the field to get into the faces of the Bengals? There was no control in this game, and that last penalty on Jones was a little bullshit, in my estimation.

Not that the Steelers were handed this game-oh no! not saying that-but man, what a way for the refs to lose control and let the outcome spiral away in heat of the moment emotions bulwarked by rules when other rules were not followed to help in that moment.

Still....good luck in the next round. :(

Oh, not only Shazier's hit, which was obviously another bad call in a string of them this year, but there were missed "officiating" all over the place. And hey, as I was screaming at the TV last night, if you want to get control, start ejecting players and, in Porter's case, asst coaches. Get them out of the game. You settle shit down real quick when players know an ejection is heading their way.

And all of this ... I didn't even want the Steelers to make the playoffs, now not only have we lost our chance at the CB I was hoping for in the draft, we face Denver's #1 D with an injured Ben and a loose headed Antonio Brown. So, hurray!!!

Too true. When the coaches start the game by guarding midfield in warm ups to prevent players from getting at each other, you know it's going to be heated. And when the game just kept going, and hits were rising more and more....I know it's my perceived thought, and I perhaps many others, that in the playoffs, it becomes a mantra of "let them play."

But that wasn't playing. That was malicious.

I know that, mind you, our 3/4 birds eye view of the field allows us more vision than the zebras, but hell, New York might as well radio in, say take a look at replay, and throw some people out. I'm not sure what 'rules' would apply beyond 'fair play' occurring.

Yeah, but those damned Steelers just keep rising up.  8) ;)

Denver's D looks great playing the AFC West, but that's about it to me! (and yes, the Packers. Ugh. What a whuppin')

So...Carolina vs Denver.

One, I f'ing hate John Elway with a passion. And yes, that was before the Broncos won Superbowl 32. His on field persona to me always made me think he was a little bitch about everything.

But, good for Peyton and the Broncos! What a D!

Carolina...I'm old school in that I hate hot dogging players. And all that stems from Cam Newton. I don't hate him...but he irritates me in the manner that old men don't like changes in the world that makes their youth unrecognizable. ;) So yes, I'm saying I'm cranky about them. I just rather see winning with class. Searching out cameras to do your touchdown celebration for yourself? Screw you buddy.

I am closer to hate for Cam
 :D

Other than that one small difference  ;) I feel the exact same way. He is a punk playing QB, but I like what the punk does for kids.

I am no Manning fan either, so I have no true dog in this fight. I suppose I would rather see Denver win (though I know that doesn't make a certain someone around here happy ;)) but that is just to avoid seeing all the damn Carolina fans coming out of the woodwork. I have seen not one damn Panther sticker here in years, but if they win, I can say with complete confidence there will be tons of them around suddenly. All of their owners saying how they have been fans for years.

I think that's why I enjoyed the Packers/Steelers Superbowl (ulp....sorry Perry :( ), but between those 2 organizations, no bandwagon fans! You are either a Packer backer or a member of the Steel crew!!

I'd like to see how many tried and true 12th Man fans/persons there are if that team hits some hard roads ahead. :)

And yeah...Cam always gives the balls to kids. I like that. I really do. But like I said, I can recall this year (0kay, maybe last year) where I watched him push a teammate out of his way to get to the camera to do a Superman shirt rip. I was shocked. I backed up the feed to watch it again. He did. Fawk that guy. Even when they lost their first game this year, he sulked the whole time, then just ran off the field quickly at the end. Man up, be a sportsmen, congratulate the other team with your stomach in your throat, and be a player. I don't hate him, I just can't stand him.

If Russell Wilson didn't play for Pete Carroll, I could almost be a happy NFL fan for him. He doesn't seem amazing as a qb (makes a lot of his own luck, which is frustrating for the guys on the other side of the ball  :D ), but screw that shyster Carroll. But Wilson has amazing character in all things, so great for him.

And, assuredly, no one DESERVES a Superbowl. I hated hearing that the entire time about John Elway. Deserves? How about the other 3 losses you had? What, you try so hard that you finally get a participation Superbowl ring? Because he deserved it? Bah. So, sorry, Peyton does not DESERVE a win. Go and earn it. Play to be the best player on that day.

I have no real preference but lean towards Carolina.  NFC, makes kids day, have friends who live in Carolina.  Plus they played a good season with an almost perfect record.  On the flip side, seeing Manning get a win and then retire on a high note would be nice too.  Either way makes no real difference to me.  I just want a good, close scoring game.  I hate Superbowl blowouts.  They are no fun to watch.

Right.

Though I will say that we've been pretty lucky the past 15 years or so as far as good, close games. Other than the Seattle blow out two years ago over Manning and that Saints blow out six years ago over ... Manning  ;D, the rest have been pretty damn close. Yes, even that GB/Steelers game where we almost came back and would have if ... yeah ... anyway  :-\
 ;D

I hope we get a gluttony of good commercials. I remember when I use want to fast forward through the game to get to the commercials but the last couple years I think the NFL outpriced itself as we seem to only get 5 damn companies anymore.
I know that isn't accurate, but damn if it didn't feel that way last year.

Oh, and also for the first time in awhile, I will not be watching any of the half-time show. I have no desire to see anything from Coldplay and heck, Beyonce and Bruno had their time already, damn it!!! Why are they here?

I'm thinking this is gonna be a blow out...the Broncos have a great defense but the offense is so hit or miss and just cant see them outscoring the Panthers who have been able to dismantle almost every team this yr.

Ahhh the overconfidence is showing  ;D
Carolina did beat some good teams this year with Seattle and Arizona being two, but they have yet to face a D like Denver's.

I don't think Manning will light it up or anything, no no, Carolina's D is no slouch, but I don't expect it to be quite as easy as playing New Orleans or that AFC south either.
 ;D

I just hope for a good game, regardless.  Cam will still blame the coaches if they lose  :D :D

I await the reports of Cam's description of the game and how it was everyone else's fault, all the while forgetting that he wouldn't even jump on a lose ball in the Super Bowl for his team. In fact, cautiously backed away from doing so. And then, that complete childlike tantrum in the endzone when he got hit. Yeah, those true colors and all
 :P

 :)

Sorry to all the Carolina fans.

EDIT -

Congrats to all the Denver ones.  :)

For the rest of us ... a pretty tame Super Bowl.  Not the worst, but far from the best

At least this season is done. Felt like it just limped along to the end for me. Hell, I was watching the Packers die a slow death for the last 10 weeks!

And yet that would still be better than what I went through.  Ugh. I just hope we don't get Johnny Football for next year.

But decent Super Bowl though not very exciting. Manning has to retire, right?

Preach it, brotha!!! Twice in two years the RB position alone, with all its injuries, has hurt us while the sieve of a Defense, if you want to call it that, has killed us. At least you just needed a good/decent QB.

And with Green Bay ... not sure what the hell that was about. The team is pretty stout from all angles just couldn't gel this year. If it wasn't for a couple incredible, but highly lucky, Hail Mary's (I suppose the all Hail Mary's are highly lucky huh?  :D) then it would've been worse.

Both of your teams should be better next year, while the Steelers D, if we don't get one the the corner-backing "III's" I want ... I don't know  ???

I just hope we don't get Johnny Football for next year.

Especially now. With his recent assault charges from his girlfriend and his refusal to enter re-hab, I think even the 'Boys of old would shy away from the current train wreck of a QB

But decent Super Bowl though not very exciting. Manning has to retire, right?

If he doesn't, then he is one stupid Papa John's owner  :D (Did you see right after the game when "Papa" come up and give him a hug before he walked onto the field? Nice to get on the field passes when you know the QB)
 :D
