Title: (Usually) always trust the comic book store guy
Post by: BatgirlLibrarian on January 25, 2011, 02:53:07 AM
So, Rich & I were at the local comics store and the clerk recommended Sweet Tooth by Jeff Lemire.  He knows I'm into post-apocalyptic stuff and when he recced ST, I wasn't too sure.  There's a deer-boy on the cover?  But oh my god, it's awesome.

I haven't read a trade where I want the next volume right away for awhile and this is totally that.

Anybody else read it?

I've heard good things about it, but damn that kid with the antlers acts like comic repellant!  Just when I think I can bring myself to pick it up and flip through, I'm disgusted at the cover imagery....

Keep on praising the book here, you might be able to convince me to look past the cover....

He definitely has freaky eyes--that's what almost killed it for me.

What's weird is that there are bits that remind of Preacher--bits where it stops just short of 'oh my god ewww that's kind of awesome'.  That may or may not appeal to you :)

I've always heard good things about Sweet Tooth but never checked it out.  Glad to hear someone here likes it too.  I might have to pick up the first trade.
