Jeff! Remember how you were “ugh, I finished Daredevil mayor versus ninja story; I’m tapping out on DD comics for a while” and I was “Ugh, Daredevil mayor versus ninjas. I’m stopping here and will check it out again later.” Turns out I was RIGHT.

Just read Chip Zdarsky’s Daredevil 2-12 last night. LOVE. IT. It’s totally a lot of the ‘same but different’ aspect of Matt’s life is always in the gutter, and it’s him dealing with trying to recover from being hit by a bus, and other events that really make him question more about ‘is what he’s doing right?’ Same old tune, but a new song! Go check it out! Perry! You should be happy to follow up with this title!!

Superior Spider-man #12: said my piece before, but still sad to see 'this' Otto/Elliot character go away. Bring on the Dr. Octopus we all know!!

Old Man Logan 12: I think all of us are a bit of saps for closure of a character/Elseworlds/end of days stories for comic characters that realisticallly can never end. Happy trails, Old Man. You deserve them.

King Thor 1 & 2: Hell yeah Aaron! Close your run out in style!!

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man 13: Ok Perry, I think I see what you mean. Is Taylor off of issue 14? This 'closure' to an arc/2 parter was F'ing terrible. This issue was just junk. This was the kind of issue produced when a writer or artist is sick/late/fired or what have you. Completely worthless. Now I have to go check who is on #14.EDIT: NOPE. Still Taylor and Ashley. Why was this issue such garbage? I hope it doesn't continue!!

Older topics:

Me dropping Black Panther: I was reading the first 2-3 issues, and I think my comments at the time that spaceship battles in comics have always sucked. They are boring. I'm curious to see how the 'mystery' of T'challa and Wakanda in space resolves gets revealed....but I don't think it will be terribly that good.

Also, Perry, great catch on that Flash issue that the mirror attacking reflections cast no reflections themselves! Good eye goodeye!

Nope; Black Panther in space is still going on. No thanks!!! I tried 2 more issues, then read the most recent one, skipping 9 of them...nope, don't care at all. Blocky, loose art doesn't make me a fan of this.

---------------------------------------------------

Swamp Thing: New Roots #1 - Whoa - talk about karma!  Good issue with some unexpected twists.

Swamp Thing: New Roots #2 - Ah ha!  Our first "to be continued"!  I like this series so far.  I think it's a keeper.

Wonder Woman: Agent of Peace #1 - Hmm.  This might not be for me.  But it is a one and done series so let's see how the other two issues go....

Wonder Woman: Agent of Peace #2 - Better but still just ok.  Not a bad series just not something that really grabs me.

wonder Woman: Agent of Peace #3 - Ok. It grew on me by the end of this issue.  I'll probably hang around for awhile.  Plus, who doesn't like Gorilla City?

Batman: The Adventures Continue #3 - Enter Deathstroke!  Fun revisit of Paul Dini's Batman Adventures.

Batman: Gotham Nights #3 - Surprise villain and a fun issue.  Don't want to spoil it or I'd say more.

Superman: Man of Tomorrow #3 - Good story this week involving the Toy Man.  And of course, Luthor has to be in the mix.

Dead Man Logan #12 - And the saga of Old Man Logan comes to a close.  Great ending to a great series.

Doctor Strange Annual #1 - Two good stories although I liked the 2nd Wong story the best.  Was fun seeing all the different mystic characters together at Strange's for Halloween.

Fantastic Four: Grand Design #1 - I really liked this a lot.  But there was one thing that was so distracting throughout the entire issue.  Alicia Masters.  They made her African American in this history.  But she was always a white redhead and still is in the current Fantastic Four comic.  What the heck?  Most of this art looked like Kirby's and it was like they replaced her in his art with a whole different person.  Really pulled you out of the story - which was really fun and good.

Invisible Woman #4 - This is still such a great comic!  The art is really cool.  The story is full of intrigue.  And just when things can't get any worse....they do.  Cliffhanger.   Smiley

Yup, just read

Invisible Woman 1-4: SUPER happy it was Mark Waid writing this. I LOVED his FF run back in the day, and she still shows an amazing hand in weaving Sue's Super Spy Serialized Stealth Set-ups 'n' Snafu Story. Gave some really cool individual looks to her powers, which I always love seeing. I love the pseudo-science explanations of powers!!

Dr. Strange 16-20, Annual 2019; eh to the Annual. AWESOME to the work by Waid and Jesus Raiz when he came back. The anniversary issue, of the ruined birthday party and the plumber was super fun. Showed all of Strange's arrogance, ego, and hubris to help and realize others can really suffer for what he does. That...and
getting his surgeon hands back? Will it really be as simple as that? No lasting curse to it? I REALLY thought it was cool that the new hands didn't have a decade or more of muscle memory for spells....so is the Sorceror Supreme an adept now that really can't stand toe to toe with the greatest of the world? Will he forget how much he needs to relearn for his magic? And for his surgery? Sounds super cool moving forward!!!

Amazing Mary Jane 1: Eh, why not? I read it. Wink Was better than 5 issues of Black Panther I shuffled through! It'll be interesting to see what MJ and Beck get done together. And I really love seeing how Peter and MJ really love each other. Guilty pleasure reading.

Deadpool 7-10: Ok, this is over a year and more ago. Scottie Young writing his insanity into the DP book...which still feels like a big letdown to all of Duggan's 10 years. Kind of blowing past it until an actual story creeps into it.

I have 4 different volumes of Captain Marvel sitting in my To Read list from the past 4 years of publishing. That's how often they keep restarting it and trying to push it as really good. I may get to it...I may not...

Need to look into the current Guardians of the Galaxy run! Thor spin offs in Loki and Valkyrie...and I may be caught up!! Except Infinity Sibling and Infinity End or whatever this latest Thanos one was.

Invisible Woman

Best FF book in a long time!!! Worth it!!

Dr. Strange

Also this. Thankfully the lack of comic publishing has made the decision for me as to wait on this or not. Not sure I can. I this and Academy are staying on the "get it now" plan ... I think
Unless I really get into more of John's Flash and JSA (reread) and Perez' Wonder Woman, which has been damn fun so far and not dated much really, like I feared

Need to look into the current Guardians of the Galaxy run!

Current Gaurdian run that is on MU? The small run by Cates? I assume? Nahhh, never hit for me, but i think Jeff likes it. I think
So hopefully you will as well.
You MUST however check out his Silver Surfer Black. Even if you don't like the art (which I loved and I think Jeff grew to at least tolerate  Grin). It ties into a lot of stuff happening in the MU

Thor spin offs in Loki

Meh

and Valkyrie...and I may be caught up!!

I wanted to get into this so badly but couldn't. That said, I will, once I am on MU, be trying again from the beginning, as (art aside) I think it has potential to be an interesting read. The art isn't bad, just kinda bland ... which in a way, is kinda bad I guess.
 Cheesy

Fantastic Four: Grand Design #1 - I really liked this a lot.  But there was one thing that was so distracting throughout the entire issue.  Alicia Masters.  They made her African American in this history.

There are a lot more changes in there as well (Reason/Motivation for Dooms mask being one I remember as well as something about his mother ... can't remember that one). But with Alicia, as Scioli said (I think during an 11 O'Clock comics interview) that he grew up around a lot of Black peeps and just wanted to add some into a comic when they were not installed. Sort of a "this is how I remember it" thing. I am pretty sure that is right. I could be way off, but I think that is what it was.
 Grin
I was more bothered by his not so invisible Invisible Girl ... showing her damn bones
 Cheesy
However, if you want to see some kick-ass Kirby'esque stuff, check out Scioli and Joe Casey's Godland. It is the ultimate letter to Kirby.
I need to add that to my read, but I've been saying it for years and years, so who knows if I ever will.
But check out some images of that title and tell me it isn't Kirby 2.0 HERE
 Cool

All I have read this week, so far ...

Wonder Woman (87) #4 - Just incredible. This art. My word.

Can you image if Image was started about ten to fifteen years earlier? And instead of bullshit artists like Rob F'n Liefeld and over cocky artists like ... well ... a couple of the others ... we got creator owned works by from the upstart artist imprint "Image 1982" with the likes of Perez, Simonson, Sienkiewicz, Colon, both Buscemas Wink ... OH MY GOD!!!
Plus, not one book would've been late!!!

Fantastic Four 14-15: So, interesting, to see that the FF never 'finished' the first mission they were intending on doing. I enjoy this dig at their history to just go somewhere fun and explore. I think its a cool idea. Slott and cool ideas usually work; execution of said ideas is always the issue!

Loki 1-4: Ever since Kieron Gillens' Thor and Kid Loki stuff, I am entranced with Loki breaking away from himself, to form a new person, and we are always wondering which Loki is around. I love reading Loki continually discovering and fighting, his own godly persona. So far, I call this series pretty cool.

Symbiote Spider-man 1-2: I'm a sucker for a Peter David Spider-man story. and it comes in an expanded version of some of Spidey's best heydey stories-the black costume days; dating Black Cat; I love it!!

Valkyrie 1-4: Perry, I disagree with you. I am totally onboard with this, and really dig it. I like exploring and seeing Aaron's take and growth on Jane Foster; I love her on Valkyrie, and you don't like Cafu's art? Really disagree. His visuals here are really good; the colors are fantastic. I feel Marvel has really put a lot towards making this book a success. I think it's a fine book, and very much in the first 4 issues, well worth the read.

Well you got through all the Loki, that is better than I did  Grin

Can't wait to see how those early Valk issues hit for ya. Hope they were worth the time at least as I do want to try again, but at the beginning next time.

The FF issues ... yeah, whatever  Grin

And again, if you are reading King Thor, you should read Silver Surfer Black, first ideally, but I know that is not an option now Smiley
