I've read the first 3 trades of The Boys (almost getting to where I was done)

Return of Wolverine 1-4-this is garbage. Soule wrote the crap that killed him, and now he's bringing him back, and with Shlavay on art, it looks like 1st year student work. THIS was the big thing about Logan coming back? This sucks. Way to blow it.

Amazing Spider-man (um...9 & 10?) Story is cool (Boomerang and Peter winning a Villain's Night trivia contest about Spidey; whatta ringer!), but it's Ramos art, and that sucks. What irks me(and this is a personal rant), that for the latest generation that grew up on Spider-man comics, Ramos is the one they've seen the most. The one that is the 'definitive' look, perhaps, for them.

-All I can say is those poor sods (been reading Ennis!). I mean, his figurework is junk, and still claptrap nonsense to follow in storytelling. At least it has gotten better. But it will never compare to Romita, or JRJr in his prime, TMC, Mark Bagley, Wieringo, Stuart Immomen.

I just find it a sad state of affairs for the Spidey history.

And the latest Hulk!!!!

Also, I may come back to read Daredevil (with Chip Zdarsky writing). It's gotta be better than the dreck from the last year (real time, discussing here).

Event Leviathan 3 - It's starting to get a little slow.  Need to pick up the pace of the plot.

Powers of X 2 - The world gets even bigger.  If this holds the X-Men really won't be the same anymore.

Black Hammer/Justice League 1 - Not sure I like the mash-up of these teams.  Doesn't feel like Lemire's writing either.

Bone Parish 8 - I should have put the next issue on my list too.  This plot is ramping up!

Criminal 6 - More Teeg goodness.  Or rather badness.  I almost wish this came out weekly!

Fallen World 3 - So this finally picked up and got interesting.  Love the tribe Rai comes across in this issue.  Decent cliff hanger too.  Next issue ought to be good.

Gideon Falls 15 - Back to the present and the cliffhanger we left off at.  Good start and hopefully we'll be getting some answers soon!

LOL - I just decided to stop reading it after the past year's arc.  Burned out on DD. Let me know what you think of Zdarsky's DD.  Maybe I'll come back.   Grin

God Is Dead #7-12 - MUCH BETTER second arc.  I get it now.  You need the first arc to get you here.  And there is interesting progression that spans years.

Age of X-Men: The Marvelous X-Men 1 - Not sure if I like this or not.  That probably means I don't.

Asgardians of the Galaxy 6 - I think I'm done with this one.  Did I say that after last issue?

Immortal Hulk 13 - Glad this weird arc is over.

Old Man Quill 1 - I got spoiled on a big reveal from a future issue so I'm reading this with that knowledge.  Still enjoyed it but kind of wish I hadn't been spoiled.

Uncanny X-Men 11 - Now this was really good.  Same story from three different character perspectives.  Thumbs up.

Hit Girl Season Two 4 - End of the Kevin Smith arc.  I wasn't into this one as much.  Was thinking of dropping off the title but Daniel Way is writing the next arc.  I generally like his writing.

Ice Cream Man 12 - I grow more confused with each issue.

Martian Manhunter 6 - Good end to the origin part of this story.  Now on to save the day!  Despite the changes in his life on Mars, I'm enjoying this.

Sea of Stars 1 - New Jason Aaron and Dennis Hallum mini.  Good Sci-Fi story and an interesting start.

The Wild Storm 22 - Yes!  The team all together now and a big battle to boot!

Return of Wolverine 1-4-this is garbage.

I didn't even bother giving it the time of day. Didn't even open it to look.

... but it's Ramos art .... But it will never compare to Romita, or JRJr in his prime ...

I am not NOT a fan of Ramos, I actually like him on Spidey more than any other title as his ... flare for exaggeration  Grin fits better with the lanky hero that is Peter (well, lanky compared to most I mean) but I certainly understand why you (and others) don't ... enjoy it.  Grin
But the main reason I quoted you here was when I saw you wrote JRjr ... man!!!! That was prime Spidery right there. Back when Jr. was trying to look like his dad? That was the best work of his career. But then ...  Angry
Look I get you want to have your own style, especially if you are labeled a "Jr", you are already searching for self identity, but damn it, that was when his stuff looked the best, Spidey looked the best, the comics in general looked the best.
There is no group of artist today that can do what those in the 70's/80's did. The speed in which they did it. The look they had. Just can't compare. Art is so different now. A lot more inner substance, more character detail which sometimes ... no, not sometimes but a lot of times leads to the sacrifice of any decent background work. The artists of yesterday would both laugh and admire some of the stuff of today.
And hell, I admit that my eye tends to love the look of Mike Deodato. I just love it, but man, talk about over use of the digital platform?
I just love the "good ole days" of pencil and ink to paper and artists that can not only do a book a month, but maybe even enough pages for two (or five pages a day for the King  Cheesy)

Black Hammer/Justice League 1 - Not sure I like the mash-up of these teams.  Doesn't feel like Lemire's writing either.

Ya know, I think the problem I have is
that there wasn't much of a mash-up at all, although there is starting to be. It is just two teams switching locales. And for the writing? I hear ya! Using cliche lines like "You better start talking!" and "I'll be the judge of that" (and so many more) along with the very tired Curly, Moe and Larry -
"What's your name?"
"Weird"
"Yes you are but I asked what your name was"
 Roll Eyes
It all just stinks of Lemire phoning it in.

Not to mention that we already know what the "farm" was ... is this taking place prior to that discovery? Although I liked the idea of the one character "death" being replaced for the other.

Now, as for what I have gotten through so far (and I don't see too much more in my immediate future  Cheesy) -

New X-Men #117 - Continuing my read through of Morrison's X-Men run
Invaders #8 - Man, this one was wordy. Still good, but a long read for this title

Black Hammer/JLA #2 - Like Jeff, not enjoying this as much as I'd hoped. But there is time left!!

Bone Parish #10
Bone Parish #11
- Finally broke down and read the last two issues I had. Only one more to go ... sadly
Livewire #8 - This book is good, but just doesn't seem to be getting the readers. Time to reset?
Once & Future #1 - A good, possible, twist on the legend of King Arthur. Liked the art too. Good read.
Road of Bones #1
Road of Bones #2
Road of Bones #3
Road of Bones #4
- A super-fast read that I did like, but it could have been more enjoyable if I could have more easily tell the difference between the three characters as they made their trek across the wasteland. The art style just didn't do a good job of differentiating between three characters and when you ONLY have three characters in your story for most of the book, that is a major problem. Still worth a read, I suppose, but only as say a $4 trade buy or something super cheap.

Got ahead of the game this week so I jumped into more God Is Dead from my backlog.  Like I said in "The Plan" thread, this series reads really fast so I'll probably get through some more of these before Wednesday hits.

Whoa!  The cliff hanger to beat all cliffhangers in issue 36.  You know that means I have to keep reading.  I might just finish this series tonight.

Yep - had to do it.  Finished the God is Dead series.  As big as this series was I'm not sure there was any way to end it that would be satisfying.  So I left it with exactly that unsatisfied feeling.  The story does wrap up but I wanted a bit more of...something.  I'm not really sure what it is I needed but it wasn't there.

I don't mean to say it's not worth reading.  It was one wild ride, that is for sure.  And though Hickman doesn't write it you can see his giant world building going on here.  Giant scope.  Giant tapestry.  Weird science.
