I know right? That is how these LoSH issues are I am trying to get through. Though a better team (GO LEGION!) and better class of cheese by a few decades. Sure the cheese is still there, but it is a better quality, more aptly aged by the time we readers get to the early 80's Grin And hey, those kinds of comics are great once you get in the correct frame of mind, ya know, getting cheesy with it, because you get a hell of a lot of bang for your buck (or your "under a buck" ... oh the good 'ole days).

It is sad to think that even though the writing is so much better now, that the price is so much higher and cost effectiveness is so much lower today. Like you said, 10 minutes today for $4 or 30 minutes yesteryear for 12¢
 Undecided
The writing is better and at times the art is too, but I will still take Perez ... well ... young Perez  Wink, Sal AND John Buscema, Romita Sr, young Romita Jr  Wink Adams, Bolton, Colan, Davis, Guice, Gulacy, Heath, Kaluta, Kane, Kubert, Mazzuchelli, young Miller  Wink, Morrow, Ordway, Sienkiewicz, Simonson, Smith, Steranko, Swan, Wrightson, John Byrne (yes even John Byrne) and of course King Kirby over half of what we are getting today.

Full of gumdrops? Wow!

Maybe that should be our motto around here.  "We're full of gumdrops!"

Had too much work to do tonight but managed to make it through a few more swingin' adventures.

Teen Titans (1966-1978)   #11 & 12 - I finally figured it out.  The dialogue sounds like old Scoobie Doo cartoons.  I did laugh at one joke where Aqualad accuses Robin of watching too much of the Batman TV show.

Batman 67 - Needed to clense the brain from those Teen Titan dialogues so I picked Batman.  And it's an issue with no dialogue.  This Knightmare story-line has been fun but I think I"m ready to get back to reality.

Criminal 1 - Now this has dialogue.  And yes!  Ricky Lawless! Finally.  But this is about Teeg.  And it's going to be a doozy of an arc.  Issue 1 was great.

Criminal 2 - What the?  A whole new story?  And it's to be continued just like the different story from Issue 1?  Genius.  I'm soo sucked in AND so glad I did a re-read of the previous volumes.  Really fun seeing Jacob from Vol 4 "Bad Night" again.  I have a feeling we're on an amazing road here.

Essex County   Vol 1  - Whoa.  I am godsmacked by this book.  It's the whole series - 500 pages - and I read it straight through in two and half hours.  I just couldn't put it down.  This might be the best thing I've ever read from Jeff Lemire.    And the way the characters interweave into each other's lives is very "Criminal"-like.

How lucky is that?  Two of the most fun comics from the week back to back.

Teen Titans (1966-1978) #13 & 14 - I’m pretty much going through the motions just to finish out the issues I bought.

Gideon Falls 11 - wow!  What a cliff hanger ending!

Oblivion Song 12 - the first/main arc is finished. Great place to drop.  Just can’t deal with the art anymore.

Prodigy 3 - Interesting idea but I’m not enjoying this.  I’m done.

I totally read that wrong and somehow dropped my eyes down ever so briefly to your thoughts on Oblivion Song, after I had read where you typed Gideon Falls. So for a micro second I was thinking that you were not able to deal with the art on Gideon Falls
 Cheesy
I was like "whaaaaat?Huh"

Now that my eyes have decided to wake up, it all makes more sense
 Smiley

As for my reading this week, so far ...

Immortal Hulk #15 - A reunion with the guy on the cover and the revelation that someone else is alive!

Aquaman #46 - The Old Sea God revealed! Now what will the other Gods do? Help Aquaman?
Batman #67 - Another one-shot of nightmares, but this one didn't hit as grand for me. I usually don't mind silent issues, I am a fan of Warren Ellis after all  Cheesy, but unlike an Ellis silent issue, this one had little impact for me. I think the chase may have stretched a tad too far and by the time we got to the reveal at the end I was less than blown away. It was great for the Lee Weeks art though!

Umbrella Academy" Hotel Oblivion #3
Umbrella Academy" Hotel Oblivion #4
Umbrella Academy" Hotel Oblivion #5
- Man, this series is CRAZY!! Very wild. Even compared to the other minis  Grin
Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt #1
Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt #2
- Cool premise by Kieron Gillen. Peter battles an alternate dimension attack from ... who?
Incursion #1 - Almost a similar thing happening here.  Smiley We all know, or should know  Wink Grin, that the Eternal Warrior has one main job, protect the Earth, but what happens when
the Geomancer herself is attacked by a threat outside of this Universe? And how is the attacker using the Deadside to do it?
An issue that does two things for me -
1 - Gives me a good story
2 - Makes me feel a lot better about Valiant again
 Cool

I bought!!!!

Doomsday Clock 9
Heroes in Crisis 4-6
Aquaman 44-45
Deathstroke 39-41
The Green Lantern 3-5
Hawkman 8-9
Justice League 15-19
Shazam 2-3
SuperSons 6-8 (again, damn you Bendis!!)

Pfew!!!  Shocked Shocked

AND I have a list of 59 books in Marvel Unlimited.

Good gravy!!!

To Discuss....

Shazam 2-3  :feels like Johns is trying to write a slightly 'hip' version of, say, Archie Comics. Meaning, keep it fun, lively, light, entertaining, and try to channel what made Captain Marvel such a hit to threaten DC comics back at inception. The problem is that so many of the characters I just want to drown (Freddie first and foremost, and I blame Eaglesham constant use of the simpering foolish grimace his smuck charcacters always have.). Just not inspired writing on the book.

Aquaman 44-45 : I always like mythic stories of gods and lost powers! Cool to see Arthur caught in the middle of that. And it's not like the rest of the world has forgotten him (by the way, the beginnin of #45, with Mera describing her powers, and the flow and feeling of water moving over Arthur, his sweat, the sound and feel of him moving through the water...THAT was awesome comic writing!!!

Hawkman 8-9 : STILL enjoying this a good bunch! I love Hawkman!

Heroes in crisi 4-6 : Okay...this is happening...that's about all I can say. This simply needs to be read as one product.

Doomsday Clock through #9 : Okay...still happening...Man, people are pissed at Superman!

So many more to go!!

Chances are getting slimmer on finishing this week...again....but I do think I made some pretty good progress considering that Essex County book was 500 pages!!

Doctor Aphra 23 - I love this book.  Who knew the most fun Star Wars character would be one that's not in the movies at all.

Doctor Aphra Annual 2 - Ditto from above.  This side story was actually a LOT of fun.

Lando: Double or Nothing 4 - This could be good but it's a little too over the top for my taste.  I think the next issue is the last for this mini.

Teen Titans (1966-1978) #15-17 - Man I just couldn't do it.  I started issue 15 and it was just too painful to read and I thought "Why am I doing this to myself?"  So I just flipped through these three and got the gist.  Issue 17 was the return of the Mad Mod.  So yeah, glad I didn't waste my time.

Issue 17 was the last of Bob Haney as writer.  Issue 18 is by Lein Wein and Marv Wolfman.  Issue 19 is an unknown writer to me.  Issue 20, 21 written by Neal Adams and 22 by Neal Adams and Marv Wolfman.

I'm thinking those issues will be a lot easier to get through!

Venom: First Host 1-3 : Pretty good and Bagley's art works here.  Interesting Kree/Skrull aspect going on here too.

Thanos Legacy 1 - Looks like Eros and the Cosmic Ghost Rider/Punisher are going to team up to find...
Thanos' head.  I'm thinking this is how they bring him back from the dead.

Silver Surfer Annual 1 - Good story and great art.  As if I didn't already feel sorry enough for Norrin Rad.    Cry

Here's my favorite example of the art:

Pretty sweet.

New Mutants (2009) 25-28 - Abnett & Lanning:  Ok, I remember this now.  I've already read all of these - I either didn't realize Abnett and Lanning we're writing them or just forgot.  No need to re-read since I now remember them all.  They were good.  I remember liking them.  Especially since Nathan Grey and Blink were on the team.

Teen Titans (1966-1978)  #18 - Wow.  What a difference a change in writer can be.  Add to it the first appearance of the Russian Starfire (which Wolfman uses again in the New Teen Titans book we all know and love) and it is a much better book.  Still got the stories of the time - French art thief after the crown jewels for example from this book - but not painful to read.  No "Wonder Chick", "Gumdrops", or Scoobie-Doo like language.  I think I can make it through the rest now.
