Captain America 698-703 -this is not good stuff. Whatever Samnee did with art on his Daredevil work does not transfer visually to be appealing in his Cap work.
Yep. Agree. And the same can be (will be) said later about another title or two
Doctor Strange 1
Is this the current Mark Waid run? If so, it doesn't start off very strong. Almost wrong in fact (almost), but I was able to hang in there and it works to a larger story that I did enjoy. That being said, I can totally get why you and Jimmy both may find this either very intriguing (for the plot and ... location
) or not at all what you want to read.
Now if this is NOT the current Waid run, just ignore everything I just typed above
Astonishing X-men 9-12; this was the last of Soule's work on the title, 'Man Called X'-I found the main Proteus issue to be just unreadable.
Indeed. I tried to get through it as best as possible (I'm still in my "I want to like X-Men again" mood so I am suffering through more than I should at the present time) but once Soule was finished (I stopped about 2 issues into his last 6 issues I think) I jumped back on for Rosenberg's run and due to that reading, I am still hanging onto this Uncanny X-Men (weekly for the first 10 issues) revamp, as he will be the only writer going from issue #11 on. He is currently mixed in with two other writers so sometimes his voice gets a little drowned out. He is rapidly becoming one of the top five writers at Marvel.
Two-in-One 5,6 and Annual-Really enjoyed these! Zdarsky writes some cool stuff here! Don't let it be for naught! Maybe I'll like it more than Perry after it hits issue 8! I hope!
I hope so as well, buddy. Again, it could have been issue 9, but I think issue 8 was when I started to feel less enthralled by 2-In-1. But hey, FF #1 hit around that time and I know I was pissed that that title hit before things were settled in 2-In-1 (they hadn't gotten the team back yet and FF title dropped?) so maybe that is all it was. I also remembering not really loving the way Ben and Johnny acted when ... no ... I will let you like it or not without more possible influence.
The title deserves love, so hopefully it will hit for you!!!
Infinity Countdown! Been stalling/waiting on that!
Just remember ... you have to think of this even/title as "The Guardians of the Galaxy" title for that is ALL it is. Again, Marvel higher-ups made the call to kill GotG just to pull readers into this event-that-is-not-an-event crap. If you read it as an event, I find it is less than good, but as just another arc in an ongoing title? I think it was fine. Although the last couple of issues of Infinity War have pushed that to the limits
Avengers #1- alright cool, let's follow this! Although big jaw Tony looks weird. Thanks McGuiness.
Oh you are so alone on that. I am hating ... HATING the look of this art work. I ususally like McGuinnes, I do, but not with Jason Arron. Just no. Totally different voices. The book is so much better when David Marquez has the run. Ugh. If I'm editor, I never again put Terry with Jason. Too much conflict in tone. Even in a low vulgar book like Avengers.
Thor #1- I do not like Del Mundo's art at all. It's all like colors a top like coloring. If this is where Thor's art is at for a long time in Aaron's run, I'm going to be sorely disappointed.
Now here I agree with you. Although, just like McGuinnes, I do like Del Mundo's style, I think it needs to be with a specific partner. While on Avengers I don't like the art with the writing, here I don't like the art with the title. Del Mundo is a Jason Aaron artist. His style can fit with Aaron's writing, but not on Thor. Thor should look either bright with harsh lines (IE: Simonson) or darker with rounded off features (IE: Coipel), but not ever bright with watercolor effects. I didn't really care for Del Mundo on Dr. Strange, but it was much better suited for that book than Thor. IMHO of course
As for me, I haven't got a lot read myself this week, so glad to see Jimmy and Jeff picking up my slack
Of course I also went off script, again, so I may just stop listing what I am going to try and read as I never stick to the darn thing
Added -
American Carnage #1
American Carnage #2 - Another title I was handed to read. It is okay. Not sure I will stick around monthly though
Batman #61 - Didn't list this? Oh well, great one-shot filler issue going back to someone we saw earlier in the run
A Walk Through Hell #6 - Did not know this was hitting but snatched it up like Barry Allen when I saw it. Damn, this is going to be so good once the story is complete. It is just creepy, and I usually don't feel that kind of feels when I read comics.
The Dreaming #4
DC New Talent Showcase
The Batman Who Laughs #1
Batman Damned #1
Batman Damned #2
Justice League #14
Supergirl #25 - Yep. I'm done. Decent read, but way too much better to be had and so little time to do so
Lucifer #3 - Same here. Actually have to be in a different frame of mind for this stuff. Collected for me I think
Aquaman #43 - Okay, yeah, sure, not sure why I like this, Typical "restart" fare, but pretty well done. Back on!
Freedom Fighters #1 - WOW! This was brutal!! I mean good, but did not expect things to go down like that. And there is a group of guys here that just make this book. AWESOME!!!!! Book of the week (so far)
Dr. Strange #9
Fantastic Four #4
The Black Order #1
The Black Order #2
Defenders: Best Defense #1
Extermination #5
Marvel Knights 20th #4
Uncanny X-Men #6
Alien 3 (Gibson's Screenplay) #2
Prodigy #1
Die!Die!Die! #5
