Reborn #1

Another good Mark Millar book.  I really like how this starts - not your ordinary first issue.  Well in a sense it is since it's setting you up for this new world but a very interesting plot device that I'm going to like.  I'd tell you but I don't want to spoil it.  I can tell you this, it centers around a woman who doesn't believe in the after life and her whole idea of how the world works is about to be blown.  Pick up the first issue and give it a try.

You enjoyed it a little better than I did. I still thought it was pretty decent though and man I did enjoy seeing that art again  Smiley Even with that one creepy panel that Capullo really missed on

I liked issue #2 better, both art wise and story, though there is one major problem of being able to see "where this will go" a little too early, I fear

Issue #3

I just really don't like what is going on here. Not the story, not the idea, but the execution. Millar always has grand ideas, and this is another one, but when we should be getting good dialog and a pacing that fits our new discovery of this world and it's peoples, we get "Hey what if this happened and then this, and then ... And oh, how about this?" kind of pacing. There is no writing here. There is just ideas on paper.

We spend no time at one location much less spending time on characters and getting to know them.

Millar likes to just come up with ideas, bust it out as quick as possible and leave, and that's fine most of the time. Those quick hitting stories work for him ... mostly. But this world and this idea could really use a little slowing down and more attention. Attention Millar rarely gives.
