Unity issue #1 (spoiler free)

This comic is almost 2 years old, yet I have never read it prior to this morning. When it first hit the "stands", I was just getting out of Valiant (having noticed the resell value of the Valiant line was not high on Ebay) but have now, with both Jimmy's questions or thoughts over the past few weeks about Valiant as well as the recent funding Valiant Entertainment has received to produce a Valiant movie, found myself thinking more and more about the comics they make.

Well boy oh boy, let me tell you something. This book was AMAZING. It had action, it had drama, it had great pacing, dialog, art and to top it off a hell of a story. Plus, it was so new reader friendly that I felt I never missed an issue of any Valiant comic. It was so good, had I not been given the rest of the issues, I would be out there right now, standing in front of my closest LCS just waiting for the doors to open just so I could rush in and try to find issue #2 in the back-issue boxes.

I strongly suggest you try and find this issue. I give this issue one of my highest "Perry Suggests" yet and I will also bet that if you do read this issue, you will be just like me ... overly excited to read the next issue. Perhaps even more than just those two.

I beg you, go look for this in your shop or your friends house  Grin. It should be there somewhere. In the back-issue boxes. In the dollar bins. In his spare room.  Cheesy

This book alone shows that a company with a unified universe containing "super-heroes" can come from some place other than Marvel or DC. In fact, this book puts 99% of the big two's product to shame.

I knew Valiant was a great company. I knew this for quite awhile. I am just sad I am not a collector because everyone of Valiant's books would be in my collection, as they deserve to be in everyone's, and this book would be right up front ... well ... If I cataloged them in reverse-alphabetization that is Grin

This is one of those rare birds -

10 out of 10 - plain and simple

Well sadly, my Valiant JLA book has reached its end. Issue 24 will be the last issue of Unity. Issue 25 actually, but as that will just be a comedy issue, it won't be the same (though I will still get it  Grin)

There was no way this book could have lasted because of its structure. Who is in the book dictates that it would never have a 100 issue run, but hell, we got a quarter of that.

Can't wait to see what is next!!!

Lol. Figures since I just started picking this up in TPB.  But Valiant is doing a good job replacing titles that drop with new great titles.

I'm sure it will have a good ending (read as - "it should have a good ending") as I think it was set to be a title that had a limited run time. It's just too hard to keep finding ways/reasons for this "non-team" to stick together ... or work against one another

Just finished reading Volume 1. Too cool. Obviously, not as many superheroes on this world, but man, who they are really make an impact on the world's affairs!!

Will definitely enjoy picking up and reading all these volumes. Smiley

Man, Just flew through vol3-5.

Loving this stuff. Great, great stuff.

Loved the last bit, with War-Monger. Whoever the artist Jose Luis is, I dig your work sir!!! All the stuff with the past, Unit-Y (seriously, that is so damned clever, I laugh and chortle every time I read about it), well, I'm glad I'm getting myself caught back up with this!!

Great series.  I'm glad your getting caught up, Jimmy.  Your excitement reminds me so much of how I felt when reading it!

All the stuff with the past, Unit-Y ...

Well just wait for the reveal of Ninja-A through Ninja-J

(seriously ... and that is not a spoiler, part of the solicit  Wink)

EDIT - And speaking of Ninjak, I know you guys enjoyed that DarkSide story arc more than I did, so you are really going to want to pick up the current mini-series Rapture when it hits in trade (or however you each buy Valiant  Smiley)
Of course I am liking this more than the last, so ... heck ... maybe you guys should avoid the Rapture story.
