Preacher!!!

http://badassdigest.com/2013/11/16/amc-is-taking-preacher-to-pilot

While I'd rather it be on a network where more profanity can be thrown around(HBO, Showtime), I think AMC can make this show work!

AMC is cable so they can at least be more ... natural than the networks. That being said ... wow, never saw that one coming.

YAY !!!!!!! Hope it grabs hold

Wow, first of all I can't believe it has been this long since any AMC Preacher talk!!!!

Secondly, and also sadly, I think this thread should have stayed buried  Grin I watched the first episode of this show last week and I am so disappointed in this show, made by Seth Rogan, a true fan of this series, that I don't know what to say. It is nothing, well barely, like the comic. I know "Hollywood" has a habit of making stupid and/or unnecessary changes to our beloved books, but I was really thinking Rogan, again, a true fan, would get it right.

Nope.

Now don't get me wrong, I know this book would have been almost impossible to do verbatim, but you could have kept the structure or flow of the comic while making changes that needed to be made for U.S cable audiences. This is just all over the place. And it is directed horribly as well with parts looking like it was directed by Robert Rodriquez on acid and other parts like Hitchcock on downers.

Truly bad.

And yet everywhere I see (IMDb. Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes), this thing is scoring in the 80s and 90s out of 100 and I am just left scratching my head.

I have the second episode waiting in my queue, and maybe that is the episode that changes everyone's mind, but I have yet had the desire to even play it. I will try to do so today or tomorrow ... when I am wanted a quick kick to the nuts

I didn't add it and sounds like that's ok.  Although my non-comic reading friends at work like it.

Well color me flabbergasted. Absolutely gobsmacked in fact.

Finally decided I was tired of recording this show that I never watch, due in no small part to me hating the first episode so much (Despised it), so I went to hit the delete button and wipe away the 6 other episodes I have when something ... from somewhere ... told me to give episode 2 a try before wiping away this show.

So I, having nothing better to do for a couple hours, decided to sit down and try and get through the second episode and about 15 minutes in I noticed something. I was enjoying this. This episode was nothing like the first. While still being somewhat (a lot) different than the book, while still maintaining the general gist and character themes, I found myself really liking this.

I went straight into episode three. Watched it and my jaw was left open.

I went straight into episode four. Watched about 10 minutes and stopped. I had to let the wife know that this show got so much better before I continue on.

I did and she watched the second episode.

We are now going to watch the third episode tonight. She is now also hooked, even after, like me, hating the first one so terribly.

Incredible.

THAT my friends is why the rule of three is so important.  Cheesy Between this and Low, I have regained my high opinion on giving stuff three attempts before making a decision. I just can't believe the turn around here. So good. WOW !!

Tell your friends!!
