So I switched to DCBS so I could order more titles for less money.  Now my pre-order will be more money than it used to be.  Perry may be winning me over with his angst against the double shipping's each month.  Even Image is getting in the game with 2 issues of Walking Dead this pre-order.

This is what I have started on my order.  Clearly I'm going to have to cut somewhere but I actually WANT to read all of these.  Sigh.  The reality of economics will probably prevail and some hard cuts will have to be made.  Any recommendations?

Jeff - No ANIMAL MAN? New artist is on ... which is actually old artist  Grin and the crossover is soon  Wink
And no SPIDER? Another Pulp hero? Of course this one is set in modern day, so I may not stick around
And no TRIO? Byrnes absolute ludicrous looking new book? I have to try it. Have to  Cheesy

MMM - X-FACTOR also is double shipped this Previews. Didn't want you to miss an issue  Wink And ...

Toy Story #3 (I know. I know.)
Ultimate Spider-Man Adventures #2

I am pissed that Ultimate Spidey Adventures is not on the subscription list on Marvel.com yet. I want to order it for my grand-kids. Brought it up to Steven Wacker and he said he will look into it. My grand-kids only live about 1 mile away, so I could always just bring them the books, but I remember when I was a youngin the absolute frustration of going to the mail box, day after day, looking for my books only to find stuff for the parents, and the utter glee when one of my Marvels (or even better two or three) where actually there. Grin

EDIT Also guys, X-FACTOR is listed as a $3.99 book, but I hear that maybe a mistake

Not sure what you mean, there Jedi. Do you mean why do I not mind THIS title being double shipped, while I hate the frequency of others being double shipped?

I REALLY hope the double shipping of almost EVERY title is just a fad. I hope it stops soon.

exactly.  why is it ok for a new title to ship twice in a month?

To gain and obtain "new comic readers" or at least "new" readers of that title.

One of the bad things about convincing 'new comic readers' to buy comics as a point of entertainment (other than the price of course), is to tell them they have to wait a full 30 days to read the second installment of this story. Even if it is a story they may have thoroughly enjoyed, this is a negative. However if you tell them the next issue is only two weeks away, your chances of bringing them back rises. You help/entice them by shortening the wait time of the next "thrilling' chapter they read and hopefully in doing so, stay with the comic.

This also works, though in a different manner, for current comic fans. You don't have to convince them of the entertainment value of comic reading, but you do want them to understand, as rapidly as you can, the enjoyment that this "new" title has. You want to hook them while you have them.

On the flip side, the chances of 'new' readers jumping on a title at issue 13 or 256 or even 256.1  Angry is rare and thus differentiates the two being shipped twice a month.

 Smiley

EDIT -
And again, I am not totally against older, established titles shipping twice a month on occasion. I mean we all like to read another issue of titles we enjoy, but this recent onslaught is just F'n ridiculous.

Good article.  And dead on.  I love the X-Men and have already been unhappy with the too many titles in that franchise.  Now with the double shipping it's even more out of control and I've been doing exactly what this guy said - going from Marvel Zombie to X-Men Zombie to Wolverine Zombie.

I've gotten bored with Animal Man and it seemed like a good time to jump off with the new arc starting with that issue.  I went ahead and ordered the Annual b/c it seems to deal with things from the first arc as well as things from Swamp Thing.  I may change my mind as May gets closer.  We'll see.

I missed Trio when I was setting up my order - I have fixed that now and added it above.   Grin

As for Spider - hmmmm.  I'm going to wait and see what you think about it.  I wasn't a fan of David Liss' Black Panther so I'm hesitant to jump on board when I clearly need to chop some titles I like.

PREVIEWS #284 MAY 2012

I don't see where this comes with the free Marvel Previews issue this time.  Am I reading that right?

Not sure, but I think it always does regardless. I have never looked at it that closely however. I am assuming it still does.

Fair enough. I was going to drop it until I saw Pugh was back on. Not a great artist, but 1,000 % more enjoyable to me than Foreman

As for Spider - hmmmm.  I'm going to wait and see what you think about it.  I wasn't a fan of David Liss' Black Panther

Crap, that is where I know that name. Well, I heard his novels were better and as this isn't a hard-set established character and he can find his own voice with it, I may still stick around. I'll let ya know
