Soooo yeah, I am going to try and cut way back on my current comic purchases, ready myself for going solely (as much as I can :D) on the MU and DCU platforms and catch up on a lot of the older stuff I have sitting around or already purchased.

I can understand that.  I figure after this Sword of X event, I will move a lot of my X-Men reading over to MU as well.  And DC will likely lose my monthly buys as well if they keep pushing these $4.99 and $7.99 prices.  Just getting too expensive.  I hate to think they might price themselves out of business.

I think I said elsewhere lots of Uncanny X-men, and then I went to the first X-force with Kid Cable. OMG this art is atrocious! Sorry, but I want a super hero look. This ain't it.

Still have almost 2 dozen DC books sitting in my drawer, over s yet old and not read... Gotta buy the end of Super Sons, Death stroke and Doomsday Clock!

Yeah it’s impossible to enjoy because of that art.  And it doesn’t get any better.  You won’t miss anything if you skip it IMO.

 ;D
I am not saying it was fantastic art, but it isn't the worst either. Heck, it is very reminiscent of Gabriel Ba's art even. Not as good and a little stylized but it wasn't that bad. I mean, if you like the Umbrella Academy look then the X-Force art shouldn't kill ya.  :)
Is THIS (https://img.purch.com/o/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5uZXdzYXJhbWEuY29tL2ltYWdlcy9pLzAwMC8yNTcvNTI3L29yaWdpbmFsL1gtRm9yY2VfOV8xLmpwZw==) or THIS (https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-obhoatYfjPc/XCQcqvaGesI/AAAAAAAAARY/u7AaiLMQXakHGbBEvnfDCXeRhqegnvI0ACHMYCw/s0/RCO017_w.jpg) image really that much different than THIS (https://cdn3.whatculture.com/images/2019/02/5b6770cb120cea5c-600x338.jpg) or THIS (https://www.syfy.com/sites/syfy/files/styles/1200x680/public/2019/01/6c8b4ef605babc0956e23b28137a2590._sx1280_ql80_ttd_.jpg) found in Umbrella Academy?
Not really.
Although I do enjoy Ba's more, they aren't total opposites or anything
 ;D
But everyone's eyes are different I suppose  ;D
I understand I may also be alone with appreciating Michael Avon Oeming's art as well
 ;D ;D
Tis all good!
 ;D
Art is subjective after all. Hell, there are people that actually enjoy Frank Robbins's (Invaders) art ...  ;D

-------------------------------------------------

Wolverine #1 - I really liked this book.  And with two stories you got twice the Wolverine and twice the goodness!  The second story with Omega Red was the most memorable.  That will likely grow into something very interesting.

Cable #1 - So first half of the book I was hating.  Did not like at all.  Thankfully all that just led to the main point of this arc which clearly leads to the Sword of X crossover.  Loved that it dealt with
Space Knights like Rom!
But without Rom of course due to licensing.
At that point I was sold on reading this for awhile.  Then they sealed the deal with the last page!!!  OH YEAH!!  I'm in for this one!!

X-Men/Fantastic Four #1 - Good start.  Man it's really looking like the X-Men are the bad guys now. And then Reed has to go and be a d!ck.  And the last page was a cool reveal.  Especially since I had forgotten who was in this story.   ;D

X-Men/Fantastic Four #2 - Magneto "Will this be a problem?" Cyclops "Yeah, Erik. It will."  Best Cyclops response ever.  And completely accurate.  Fun issue and sets the stage for what promises to be a great battle coming soon....

X-Force #9 - Eh - not much better this issue but the cliffhanger makes me think next issue has potential.

Excalibur #9 - I wonder if this is a big hit with previous Excalibur fans.  I never read them but I have some knowledge and it seems like seeing some of these characters show up could be a hit for those fans.  For me it's not a big hit or miss.  But I never really liked this fantasy stuff in my X-Men.  This has enough in it to keep me interested - Megann as a spy could be interesting (I always liked her character).  I like Pete Wisdom.  I like Rogue and Gambit.  I like Jubilee.  I DON'T like Shogo as a dragon.  I don't mind Betsy as Captain Britain (but I prefer her as Psylocke).  So why am I ambivalent towards this title?

Not really.

Except that this is NOT the Umbrella Academy.  That's what makes the difference.  Oeming's art is probably great on a different book with different characters, but not X-Force.  Or X-Anything (well, maybe X-babies?) as far as I'm concerned.  Oeming would probably be great fill in artist for Umbrella Academy because that's the way those characters are supposed to look.  Not in the X-World.  Nope.

Batman #91 - I'm done.  This is just really boring.  And the next arc is yet ANOTHER war with the Joker.  I'm out.
And with dropping this I'm now officially not reading any current DC Comics.  Maybe I'll try out that Suicide Squad Perry is raving about...

Bloodshot #0 - Good one shot story.  It's by the numbers but that's ok.  Twist at the end still caught me by surprise thought it probably shouldn't have.  Thumbs up.

Family Tree #4 - Nice action issue.  This isn't one of the best Jeff Lemire tale...yet.  It's getting better with each issue.  After this one I'm really looking forward to see what happens in the next issue.

Except that this is NOT the Umbrella Academy [....] Not in the X-World.  Nope.

;D Hey my man, like I said, we all like what we like, you don't have to have a reason. Ya know, to each their own and all that  :) and its not like I am clambering to to stand in line for a sketch from the guy  ;D I don't like his look that much either, but 'I'm just saying it wasn't the worse art out there. This is a young guy that has a punk style and sure it isn't for everyone, but it wasn't as bad as say Rob Liefeld ... who even after all this time won't practice to get better  >:(

And besides, style is a great thing. How many times have we as a comic community said we "didn't like the look or style of the art at first but then ..."?

But seriously man, I'm not trying to "break your balls ova heya"  ;D  art is art, we don't all like the same. I am more than comfortable being the sole HR guy that can look at this guys stuff and not puke
 :D :D

Oeming's art is probably great on a different book with different characters, but not X-Force.

I do want to clarify one thing however, the guy that was on X-Force was Dylan Burnett. Michael Oeming was the other guy you hated, from the Young Justice Warlord image
 ;)
A fine artist there. That one. And even though you don't like him either  ;D, I will go to the mat for him because ... well ... I was the same way for a time  ;D until I got through the first 3 or 4 issues of Powers and then I found the appreciation.

But yeah man, hate whose art you hate.  8) I get it. I am sure I will be there on the other-side of the art opinions here soon. You will be saying "its better than Liefeld"  ;) and I will ... no, lets not go there yet. We'll cross that road when we get to it
 :D :D

Oh, and lastly (and Jimmy and I just spoke on this yesterday) ... regardless of our level of dislike for Burnett's style, I think we can all agree that Mike Del Mundo's style should never again grace the pages of Thor
 :D :D :D
I told Jimmy that I liked his stuff on the title Weirdworld because it fit. Somehow or for some reason it worked. But it made Thor look pretty damn murky to me
 :-\

EDIT -
DANG IT!!!
Forget to include the other comments you made that I wanted to reply to  >:(

Wolverine #1 - I really liked this book.  And with two stories you got twice the Wolverine and twice the goodness!

Haha, Glad you have your favorite (yeah?) character back!!!

The second story with Omega Red was the most memorable.  That will likely grow into something very interesting.

I agree and the only reason I have it my "maybe" keep up with it column  ;D

Cable #1 - So first half of the book I was hating.  Did not like at all.  Thankfully all that just led to the main point of this arc which clearly leads to the Sword of X crossover.  Loved that it dealt with
Space Knights like Rom!
But without Rom of course due to licensing.
At that point I was sold on reading this for awhile.  Then they sealed the deal with the last page!!!  OH YEAH!!  I'm in for this one!!

Yeppers. That reveal, well, both reveals, was pretty cool. Still dropping it, well, adding it to MU I mean, but it almost had me
 ;D

X-Men/Fantastic Four #1 - Good start.  Man it's really looking like the X-Men are the bad guys now.

Something is there, buddy. Something!!!!  ;D

Excalibur #9 - I wonder if this is a big hit with previous Excalibur fans.  I never read them ...

Same and maybe that is why it isn't doing it for me as well. I know OF them, mostly anyway, but not "getting" it. That "feel"
 :-\

So why am I ambivalent towards this title?

I think for the same reason you said at first  :-\

Batman #91 - I'm done.  This is just really boring.  And the next arc is yet ANOTHER war with the Joker.  I'm out.
And with dropping this I'm now officially not reading any current DC Comics.

Gotta love it when Joker shows up in Batman!!! Oh what's that? He is in like every conflict we have now with Batman? Yeah he is isn't he
 >:(
I feel like Jane from the Brady Bunch!!!
Joker
Joker
Joker

BAH!!

Maybe I'll try out that Suicide Squad Perry is raving about...

There ya go!!! But then again, being big two free isn't a bad thing either.  ;D But if you do decide to try, you should enjoy it and it should hook you at issue #1, but if it doesn't hook ya by issue #2 ... well then try #3  :D :D
Just kidding.
I was really impressed with the first issue (that I was told to read  :-\ that bastard) but it had some new characters in it so I was still leery, a tad but when I hit that second issue, BAM I was hooked hard. And by the third?!?!?! Oh yeah
Again, if you ever read any Secret Six you should like this ... probably
 ;D

Family Tree #4 - Nice action issue.  This isn't one of the best Jeff Lemire tale...yet.  It's getting better with each issue.  After this one I'm really looking forward to see what happens in the next issue.

I do like me some Jeff Lemire, and this is a well written title, but I ahve just not been able to get the good vibe when reading it. That "feel" is not hitting me yet. Going to give issue #5 a shot, the last issue in this arc, but after that ... I don't know man ...
 :-\

EDIT 2

 >:(

Yep , forgot my reads this time
 >:(

 ;D

Avengers of the Wasteland #2
Avengers of the Wasteland #3 - A really fun story set in the Old Man Logan Universe. A must add for MU guys!!
Savage Avengers #9
Savage Avengers #10 - I wish this was on MU. I like it, but I don't want to say it is worth the price. But... Conan. And its good Conan! I don't know. May rethink it. But keep your eyes open for me if it does hit MU?  :) Please

Batman #91 - Funny that I found this a little better than the last couple, but like Jeff I think I am done.Like King or not, at least he brought something to Bats. This is stuff that has been done so many times before that I just don't need it, I don't think. Sad, as I do like Tynion.

Rai #4 - After opening #5, I had to go back and read/look at the ending of this to refresh my brain ;D
Rai #5 - After refreshing my brain with #4 and opening this back up  ;D I found this to be a decent ending to this particular story. Not the END end, but end of that segment  :D Man do I love Ryp's art!!!
You a fan of the art, Jeff? Just curious

In that case, replace "Oeming" with "Burnett" everywhere in my post above.   ;)

You keep saying I hate the artist and that is just not true.  I don't hate the artist.  I hate his art on this particular book.  I've been pretty consistent in saying his art might be something I like on a different book.

Oh, and lastly (and Jimmy and I just spoke on this yesterday) ... regardless of our level of dislike for Burnett's style, I think we can all agree that Mike Del Mundo's style should never again grace the pages of Thor
 :D :D :D

Oh that goes without saying!   :D

I told Jimmy that I liked his stuff on the title Weirdworld because it fit. Somehow or for some reason it worked.

Yes! This is exactly what I'm trying to say above about Burnett (and Oeming).  I loved Weirdworld and the art was right for that book.

Wolverine #1 - I really liked this book.  And with two stories you got twice the Wolverine and twice the goodness!

Haha, Glad you have your favorite (yeah?) character back!!!

Yes you are correct.  Wolverine remains my favorite character.

Avengers of the Wasteland #2
Avengers of the Wasteland #3 - A really fun story set in the Old Man Logan Universe. A must add for MU guys!!

Cool.  I pick up all of the OML Universe books as they hit MU.  Wrapping up Old Man Quill right now.  Not as good as Old Man Hawkeye (which was incredibly awesome) but I'm enjoying it still and pretty sure I already know who will be in that Avengers of the Wasteland book since they've been forming in these other books.  Should be fun!

 8)

I do like this art.  I was a big fan of the original art from the original book and this is nothing like that.  But I still like it as the characters are still drawn "right" (?) and not cartoonish.  Thumbs up!

Skulldigger and Skeleton Boy #3 - Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!  This story just escalated after that last page reveal.  I am really "digging" this book!

The Visitor #3 - Dangit.  I should have dropped this when I had the chance.  This was the best issue to date and now I'm hooked. :-)

Undiscovered Country #4 - Good issue.  Betrayal.  Hope returns.  Thuths are revealed.  Live Free of Die!  (Yeah, I got caught up in it!)

Hazel & Cha Cha Save Christmas: Tales from the Umbrella Academy - Sadly, I didn't really like this.  And partly was because...drum roll....the art looked too normal!!  It didn't look like it was supposed too - all cartoony!!  Why couldn't Oeming do this one?!?!?!?

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: The Tempest #4 (of 6) - Whew!  That was a long one.  Didn't help that half the book was in 3-D and since it's didgital I did not have any 3-D glasses.  That was hard on the eyes.  But we're coming closer to finale as issue 5 should be a biggie!

You keep saying I hate the artist and that is just not true.  I don't hate the artist.  I hate his art on this particular book. I've been pretty consistent in saying his art might be something I like on a different book.

You're right, I misspoke saying you hated the artist instead of the art. That is something that I should correct and make sure I make the distinction in the future (I usually try to do just that, but failed here)
 :-\

Regardless, you're are 100% correct.

On a whim, I went back and read your comments on each of the 10 issues after you read them ;D (Yes, I have way too much time on my hands this morning). Now these quotes are only from your immediate responses from reading each issue, I just thought it funny to go through each one and post all of your enjoyment  ;D :D of his art on X-Force directly after reading them.
 :D
This is not all of your comments, I am sure you made more, but this is just directly after each issue and I am doing this for a laugh because I know how much you love this guy's stuff
 :D :D

It started off ... not too bad ...  ;)

X-Force 1 - First issue didn’t grab me but didn’t run me off either.  I’ll stick around for the first arc.

Then it begins ...  :D

X-Force 2 - Hard to read because the art isn't very good.  If it doesn't improve I might drop.

X-Force 3 - Ugh.  I'm not sure I can get past this art.

X-Force 4 - same as every week: Story thumbs up. Art thumbs down.

X-Force 5[/s][/color]

X-Force - maybe the art is wearing me down.  This issue was ok.

X-Force 6 - Glad I stayed on this despite my dislike of the art.  Story has turned out pretty decent.  I still want "my" Cable back but like I said, the story has been getting steadily better.  Plus you can always get me with a time travel story.

X-Force (2018) 7 - Ugh.  I like the idea of fighting Stryfe but this art really is bad.  I know this will soon be replaced by the Hickman X-World so I'm going to stick around to see how it ends.

X-Force (2018) 8 - I couldn't care less about young Cable in this story.  And the art is still bad.  Ready for this to end just so I'll know what happened.

X-Force (2018) 9 - I bet this is a really good story but the art has really ruined it.

X-Force #10 - Oh thank gawd this horrible book is over.  This writer was terrible.  The plot makes no sense and Baby Cable's whole speech about not changing the timeline makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE SINCE HE KILLED REAL CABLE IN EXTINCTION,  BASICALLY CHANGING THE TIMELINE FROM THE GET GO!  And everyone bought that speech?  Ugh.  Utter garbage.  And the horrible art only made it worse.

Man, we need to ask Hickman to put this guy on his X-Men run so Jeff will buy two copies of each issue.
 :D :D :D

LOL that was an awesome history dig and find there!!!!!

So yeah, I removed X-force from my line up. Also, 'Baby Cable' it is!!

I also just read Superior Spider-man 1-5. I've always enjoyed works by Christos Gage, Nate Hawthorne on art looks like he was schooled in the last decade of Stuart Immonon's art stylings, and Doc Ock as Peter Parker/Spider-man was a big change that went to a lot of enjoyment (and selling money !!!) for me. An enjoyable time.

Spider Woman #1 - Just flipped through this at the LCS. Took a shot and luckily nothing I need  ;D
Conan #14 - This on the other hand? Oh yeah! I know, I get the complaint about Conan. There are only so many stories you can tell. It is just the way it is and I agree. However, I do love how some writers can take what has been done before (so many times) and make me like it still  ;D
Conan, thrown in a well and trapped in a competition ... a game of survival with other "players". Can he find away out by avoiding all the traps, creatures and possible assassins within the group?
Yeah, typical, but cool, Conan stuff
 ;D

DCeased: Unkillables #2 - This just continues to be DC's best damn title they are putting out. Tom Taylor is ... pardon the pun ... just killing it here telling the villains story of events that happen after the end of the first 6 issue mini DCeased. While last time we had Trevor Hairsine's perfect style of art for this type of Zombie story, this time we get Karl Mostert's very cool (and very, very reminiscent or a certain Frank Quietly) art which is just as fitting. Is this title worth the $5 per issue? HELL YES. Not only because the story is so good, but we get about 40 pages of story in these issues, so heck, that is the size of two regular comics but you are getting it for $2.50 an issue
 ;)
A MUST READ !!!!
(But make sure you read the 6 issue mini, along with the one-shot, before starting this!!)

I see X-O is coming back next week so I am hoping this is a new Valiant revival!!!

Just in time for them to shut down operations I hear  :'(

I get it. I see most companies other than Marvel and DC are pretty much putting a stop order on most if not all projects for awhile. No reason to make and then try and sell comics that no-one can/will get to. I have a fear that quite a bit of shops will be closing, permanently, here soon after this as well. I know how tight it is for a lot of these shops around here and I honestly don't see how they are going to make it if they have to deal with not only people not having the ability to get to the shop, but losing their jobs and not having the disposable income for comics for a few months. I don't think most shops can go 4 or 6 months without income.
 :-\ :'( :'( :'(
I only hope the structure of how comics are sold, the entire Diamond Comics system, will be different after this. I hope THAT comes out of this at least

Speaking of Marvel and DC not slowing down, as of yet, can you guys keep an eye out for sales to sign up for the MU/DCU?

I figure it won't be too long before they start offering their digital services at a reduced rate, in order to keep those that can no longer afford their comics reading comics from them. If you know what I mean.
I got ready to sign up this morning to MU and thought, wait a minute, maybe I will wait and see what happens in the next couple weeks.

Seems to me their subscriptions sales would be going up since no one can leave the house to pickup comics. If that’s the case there wouldn’t be a reason to drop prices.

If everyone starts losing their jobs, their subscriptions should go down as no-one could buy them
That is my thinking.

Comic shops sales would lesson immediately, already happening (and that is something that hopefully will produce changes later), but yes, that would, at first create a small jump in subscribers and be a jump in sales, but once that income availability is gone? In a matter of a month or two?

How many people filing for Unemployment now?

They just closed, Not limited, but closed all entertainment businesses in VA. (Well, starting midnight Tomorrow, I think it was) Not sure if "book stores" are considered in that, but I know nail salons, fitness centers, bowling alleys, movie theaters, bingo halls, etc ... they are closing here. All schools here are closed for the rest of the year.

It is starting to hit here and it isn't nowhere near as bad as further north or the west coast.

I am just glad my wife works where she does, always considered Essential personnel
  :-\

EDIT - Well now that takes care of that.
Diamond Comic Distributors are closing its doors for the foreseeable future. NO comics for shops past this week, this next Wednesday
 :'(
Also read that they are allowing all shops to sell what the have for this Wednesday whenever they want to start selling it. As soon as they have it, they can sell it. No need to wait until Wednesday
(Comixology appears to not be able to)

Edit 2 - Forgot link - HERE (http://www.multiversitycomics.com/news/diamond-stopping-all-shipments/)

Edit 3 - Also just saw, over at BC, that DC's printers are closing down for a few
 :'(

Here it comes ...

Plunge #2  - Loving this ocean/island mystery/horror title  ;D May just add the rest of Hill's comics as well as they (Hill's line) are not going to be on the DCU I have a feeling. I don't think they allow anything as much as a "Teen+", much less something like an "R" rated, even though this isn't "R" as of yet ... well, maybe due to one drug reference? Heck, I don't know.
I looked for Black Label, but I don't think it has been a year for those to be up on the site yet, though again, like most times, I could be wrong
 ;D

Still trying not to read stuff like Hulk, Venom and the like as I am trying my best to wait for MU.
As soon as I see a sale ...
 ;D

Okay, I will be on in about 2 or 3 months regardless, but don't tell them. I still want that sale ...  :D

Satellite Sam # 4 & 5 - Getting more interesting as the search for Mickey’s fathers killer fears to some under belly places.

Black Cat #4 - I was going to drop this when the last arc ended.  Now I might wait until this arc ends.  This first part caught my interest as Black Cat is trying to Rob the Fantastic Four! “Date Night” with Johnny Storm - the man is gullible.

Doctor Strange #19 - Nice one shot that has to have nasty ramifications for the good doctor.

Man, as hard as it is, waiting for a few months and the reading a bunch of issues in a row of some titles is just incredible. I can't believe I made it so far this time, especially with this writer, but I did!!

Closed out the week in fine fashion!! But lets start with the one I tried to wait on, but couldn't  :-[

Fantastic Four #20 - The end of this series!!!  :o Yet again  :'( (Please note that the previous sadness emoji is for how many times this title has ended, NOT that its current run may be coming to an end ;))
But with Empyre coming in and taking over the entire Marvel publishing plans ... once they restart after the Virus shutdown  :'( :'( ... and the FF being named changed to include the Empyre, I think FF will, if it returns, come back with a new creative team? This is purely speculation/hope, but it may happen, yeah?
Of course it could (probably) will return after Empyre with a new Volume  ::), but I am hopeful that if/when it does, there will be a different team.

Criminal #5
Criminal #6
Criminal #7 - Dang this is such a great read. How is Brubaker not getting the praise he deserves? Okay, I am sure he is getting plenty, but his stuff is so touching, so easy to relate to, even if you are not a killer or ... criminal (Wah-Wah), it just amazes me. Man, so damn glad I have a few more issues to get caught up on!!!

FF ending again? Well then...oh well.

But you know what? It's getting damned hard to search for older volumes, or even be able to reference what older volume is what.

Like, I know the writers for, say, the Hulk volumes. But, if I REALLY want to get caught up on all Captain Marvel from the last decade, if the years aren't listed (thankfully, Unlimited does!), how would I know what in the hell I'm looking for? Sheesh!

Yeah it is crazy, and I do miss the good ole days of just having one damn volume of any of the big two comics I used to enjoy. And I think you are right, date is about the best way to do it now, but hell, I don't remember years! I look at some of these titles and I see it was published in 2002 and it just blows my mind that that was 18 year ago!!! 18 YEARS??? WHAT THE HELL?

Yeah, it crazy.

As with the FF stopping, again, just speculating, but it seems like it is going to go that route. I know Black Panther is ending at 25 (or close) and I think Marvel will be using Empyre as one of those reset events or a closing event. Shuting down low sellers and maybe restarting others.

Of course that entire plan may now be out the window with the shutdown. Who knows what they will do now
