The New Gods Special #1

No idea what I am going to try and read this week as it is a doosy of a week for me. Puppy getting Neutered, daughter moving into her new house, all kinds of stuff going on.

My boy Dave did tell me to try and get through a few new titles from this new company, Lion Forge. The have a kids division, and teen division and a more adult hero line it seems called Catalyst Prime, overseen by Christopher Priest. Lots of great creators are putting out books for this company in a slow release schedule. Books that are out already or soon to be released:

Joe Casey's - Accell, Incidentals and K.I.N.O
Alex DeCampi (Love her stuff) and Pop Mahn's (and his isn't shabby either) - Astonisher
Brandon Thomas' - Noble
Amy Chu's - Summit
David Walker's - Superb

Gonna try ... TRY  ;D and check some of these out this week ... hopefully.

Wait for a sale I say.  :-\

It wasn't terrible ... the first story, which did look pretty, was really just okay and the second story, while not as pretty, did kinda hit me a little better. Still a one-shot, fan service, that ties into nothing that did a decent job of being a Kirby Homage.

But nothing to write home about and certainly not worth $5, to me at least.

Thanks! That was what I thought. Was interested but for $5 it should blow my socks off.  I'll wait.

The New Gods Special #1

I just always have this belief that the idea and memory of the New Gods is always better than anything ever done since Kirby.

If Priest is any kind of editor in chief of these books, I already trust these books to be REALLY good.

They never fixed my download problem but I was able to stream it and read it. It was ok. This mini has been a fine read but nothing special.

Uncanny Avengers - this was a reread of the first arc and I liked it better this second read.  I do like most of the members of this team so I'm keeping an open mind until I get to the later issues you liked.  I do like Cable better leading this team instead of "Old Steve".

Sweet.  Good job Jimmy.  How did you like those Star Wars Legacy comics?  That was one of my favorite series back when they came out.

Not a lot at all this week, but I enjoyed what I read and THAT is what is most important
 :)

The New Gods Special #1

Rai #2
Rai #3
Rai #4 - Loving the story, but these issues were (including issue #1) kinda hard to read at times due to the art. It is absolutely gorgeous at times, but it is also, again, at times, very hard to tell what every panel is trying to show. At least for me. Sometimes I just can't tell what Crain is trying to show me. Not too often, maybe a panel or two an issue and it isn't ruining anything as I can eventually get there, but yeah, my eyes struggle.

Even still, I'm digging it and looking forward to continuing down Japan ... as it were.
 ;D

Miracle Man #1 - Yep, I begged, I pleaded, I read it!!! This is gonna be another fine 12 issue run by the 12 issue run master.
 :) 8)

EDIT - And just deleting something.
 ;D

That happens in the whole run but the art is still amazing.  Glad your reading this. I liked it.

It is only bad when they are bad comics  :)

Well I at least feel better about not being the only one that has his eyes not getting every panel.  ;D

And oh yeah, I see you are (have plans on) reading Superwoman. Trust me, once Phil Jeminez leaves, just stop reading. Just put them down ...  delete them or at least ignore the rest. Man did that book fall quickly once he bolted/was axed.

I understand you feelings, and agree.  :) There are exceptions, of course, especially when the characters are used as additions to a story and not the focal point. But there are those rare times when I really get into some recent stories that worked well for me, like the recent JLA event thing ... that I obviously forgot the name of  :D, that had the Monitor and Darkseid fighting. Crap!! what was that?

AAARRRGGGHHHHH
