Title: FUTURE QUEST
Post by: Perry on October 08, 2016, 01:52:59 PM
Not sure if this, Flintstones, the other Hanna-Barbera, or the soon to be Wildstorm Universe books should be in DC team books or have a spot in the Vertigo section so move if you think so, Jeff.
 :)

I'm still on this book and plan to be so for as long as I can foresee, but I'm beginning to wonder if I should be.

Damn this book needs to be read in collected format (or a bunch of monthlies saved up to read back to back). It just does. This is moving so damn slow, that by the time we get the first arc in, we will be on issue 24.

Part of this is just the sheer amount of people ... well ... characters that they are trying to put into this book. The cast is huge right from the get go (which in this case is issues 1-3  ;)) with even more being added every issue. The other part is the "half book" approach they are using to get a spotlight on each character. Much like they are doing in the book Suicide Squad (to help cover Jim Lee's slow ass), they are giving us about half the book in proper story and then the other half (give or take) we are shown a spotlight or history of some of the great Hanna-Barbera characters.

Hey, I'm fine with that, but man it is really slowing the pacing of this book down. While Flintstones, a book everyone should be reading for its meta-textural aspect (man is it great) if for nothing else and Wacky Raceland being so over the top crazy (and soon to be crazier with Garth Ennis' "Dastedrly and Muttley" offshoot mini around the corner), this title just seems even slower when compared to the two.

Look, I enjoy them all, though I am behind on my Wacky Raceland (I stopped Scooby because it was another "zombie" type book  ::), but may try to dip back in to see what's going on), and this is no exception, but I think I need to put this book on the "read them all when they get some in the bag" list, just so I can really enjoy the story more.

Again, good stuff here, just better collected.
