predominantly serious cast at the time. Deadpool is known for his extremely similar appearance, costume, and powers to Deathstroke, from DC's Teen Titans. The only exception is that Deathstroke is not crazy, nor is he lighthearted in the slightest.

Wade Wilson was a high school drop-out, a delinquent, and an armed forces wash-out, who turned to mercenary work and quickly established a formidable reputation. After developing terminal cancer, Wade volunteered for the Weapon X program, and underwent tests meant to give him Wolverine-level superhuman healing, but the test went awry, disfiguring Wilson and unhinging his mind. Washing out of Weapon X, Wade was sent to a lab for failed experiments to be put down, where Wade fell in love with the personification of Death, but was rejected. Wade escaped and resumed mercenary work as Deadpool, leaving a trail of blood and confusion in his wake.

 What makes Deadpool such a great vessel for commentary on the comics world is the fact that Deadpool, like Ambush bug, is completely aware of the fact that he is a comic character, often handling his own recap and letters pages in his comics. Deadpool is not afraid to ridicule a fellow comic character for a n out-of-character decision, such as knocking Spider-man for making a deal with Mephisto.
